Writing is without a doubt a single of my preferred passions.

I honestly have a lot of hobbies, yep— everything from making leather bound books to beating my peers in chess to playing the violin— but writing has always been, & always will be, my utmost preferred way to spend my time.

In fact, I’m even currently in the process of writing a novel. Novel writing has been treating me well, as I care about sitting down at my desk & seeing my ideas come to life. In my view, there is nothing more satisfying than watching the story I have dreamed of seemingly unfold itself in a single big document. However, there is only a single thing that can prevent me from being productive when it comes to writing: poor heating & air conditioning. The people I was with and I all realize how pressing heating & air conditioning are to comfort, especially in the months when hot & cold temperatures are at their most brutal. Keeping that in mind, it is honestly impossible for me to concentrate & write my novel in a freezing room while in the midst of winter, or a sweltering warm room while in the middle of the hot season. If my heating device is broken while in winter, I might as well say goodbye to writing for that afternoon. After all, how would I be able to concentrate on getting words out while shivering & chattering like crazy? At that point, my heating device would be needed to make myself and others feel entirely comfortable & relaxed enough to focus on writing. The same goes for needing an air conditioning device while in the summer. I don’t think anyone could write something that they’re ecstatic with while in an uncomfortably overheated room with a broken air conditioning device in summer. All in all, I couldn’t be happier that I have a room with fine Heating, Ventilation & A/C to write my novel in!

With that in mind, it is absolutely impossible for me to concentrate and write my novel in a freezing cold room during the middle of winter, or a sweltering hot room during the middle of summer. If my heater is broken during winter, I might as well say goodbye to writing for that day. After all, how would I be able to concentrate on getting words out while shivering and chattering my teeth? At that point, my heater would be needed to make me feel comfortable and relaxed enough to focus on writing. The same goes for needing an air conditioner during the summer. I don’t think anyone could write something that they’re happy with while in an uncomfortably hot room with a broken air conditioner in summer. All in all, I couldn’t be more thankful that I have a room with good HVAC to write my novel in!

Art actually is 1 of the most wonderful parts of life… As an artist, I see art in basically every single space of the world around me.

I actually see art in the corners of my residence, in the fields outside, in the trees, the skyline plus the horizon.

In each cloud, plus basically everything that I see in life. As it turns out, I have a skill for translating what I see into paint on canvas. If you’re an artist, especially a painter, then you recognize how much focus plus concentration it takes. With that in mind, it is virtually impossible for me to concentrate plus produce art in a room with horrendous Heating as well as A/C… Even if I’m actually inspired by a snowy frigid season landscape playing out outside of my residing room window, I’ll find it pretty difficult to paint anything if the gas heating machine in my residence isn’t working consistently. In fact, I’d entirely be shivering a lot plus violently to hold my paintbrush consistently! At that point, my gas heating machine would be needed to make me totally feel comfortable plus relaxed enough to focus on painting. The same goes for painting during the Summer months, as well, however painting in a sweltering room without a consistently functioning A/C machine during the warm season honestly is no straight-forward task. I’d be perspiring a huge amount plus feeling so sticky that it would be a challenging task to focus on any fine details, not to mention my paintbrush slipping in my fingers due to my hands perspiring a considerable amount. All in all, I couldn’t be more appreciative that I have a room with wonderful Heating as well as A/C to make my art in!

I see art all over in the corners of my property, in the fields outside, in the trees, the skyline and the horizon, in each cloud, and just about everything that I kneel my eyes on.

As it turns out, I have a true talent for translating what I see into paint on canvas.

If you’re an artist, especially a painter, then you without a doubt understand how much focus and concentration it takes… With that in mind, it is pretty much impossible for me to concentrate and produce art in a room with terrible Heating and Air Conditioning. Even if I’m harshly inspired by a snowy Winter landscape playing outside of my home office window, I’ll find it fairly hard to paint anything if the gas furnace in my home isn’t doing its job. In fact, I’d genuinely be entirely too frosty to hold my paintbrush properly! At that point, my gas furnace would be needed to make me actually feel comfortable and relaxed enough to focus on painting. The same goes for painting during the warmer months, as well… Painting in a blistering hot room without a properly functioning A/C during the summer season honestly is no easy job at all. I’d be dripping with sweat to the extent that it would be a very difficult job to focus on any great details, not to mention my paintbrush slipping in my fingers due to my hands dripping with sweat so often. All in all, I couldn’t be more happy that I have a room with wonderful Heating and Air Conditioning equipment to make my art in!

In fact, I’d unquestionably be shivering too much plus violently to hold my paintbrush in a proper manner! At that point, our oil furnace would be needed to make me entirely feel comfortable plus relaxed enough to focus on painting. The same goes for painting during the hot season, as well, however painting in a sweltering room without a properly functioning a/c appliance during the warm season is no straight-forward work at all. I’d be covered in sweat plus feeling super sticky to the point it would be a taxing work position to focus on any fantastic details. Not to mention our paintbrush slipping in my fingers due to my hands covered in sweat as well. All in all, I couldn’t be more glad that I have a room with good Heating and Air Conditioning to make art in!

With that in mind, it is basically impossible for me to concentrate and produce art in a room with poor Heating and A/C… Even if I’m drastically inspired by a snowy frosty season landscape playing out outside of my residing room window, I’ll find it drastically tough to paint anything if the heating device in my household isn’t working respectfully. In fact, I’d actually be shivering way too much and violently to hold my paintbrush respectfully! At that point, my heating device would be needed to make myself and others actually feel comfortable and relaxed enough to focus on painting. The same goes for painting while in the summer, as well. Painting in a sweltering room without a respectfully functioning air conditioner device while both of us were in the Summer is no easy task at all. I’d be dripping with sweat so much and feeling so sticky that it would be a challenging task to focus on any nice details, not to mention my paintbrush slipping in my fingers because of my hands dripping with sweat all the time. All in all, I couldn’t be more thankful that I have a room with amazing Heating and A/C to create my art in!

When we decided to roll the dice on getting one more summer out of our heat pump, I wasn’t really even factoring in the HVAC company.

To me, they had already done their job.

The HVAC technician had informed us that our heat pump was on the ropes when he was there to do the air conditioning tune-up. And we met with an HVAC contractor to understand the costs and the choices we needed to make when it came to replacing the HVAC equipment. So really, the HVAC company had done what they were supposed to do as far as I as concerned. I would find out later that they really did have our backs. The simple reason we went ahead and tried for another summer with the old heat pump was money. We hadn’t been saving up for the new HVAC equipment as we had planned a few years ago. We really wanted to just buy it outright instead of going with the financing. So we needed some more time to save up. My wife and I thought that if we could just get one more summer in, we’d have the money. That meant that we really did our best when it came to reducing the load on the old HVAC unit. Still, that turned out not to be enough. The HVAC unit crashed at the end of August. However, the HVAC company stepped in and saved us while with portable air conditioning units while we waited for our turn for installation. Our HVAC company is just the best and we are so pleased to still be doing business with them after 25 years.

The next thing we know, there is a great gym with great heating and cooling in our home

I’m just so glad to not be totally cooped up in the air conditioning of home like I was all of 2020. Don’t get me wrong, I love my house and am super thankful for the quality heating and air we have in this place. I sort of complained when my wife wanted to go with the latest in residential HVAC. We replaced the HVAC equipment a few years back. My wife really wanted all that HVAC technology and I was a bit resistant due to the cost. But man, was she ever right on about our HVAC equipment. That said, if I had to spend an entire year inside the air conditioning, I’m sure glad it was here. But I did miss doing stuff. Going to restaurants and getting together inside one another’s home was stuff that was off limits as was the gym. It’s not like I’m a real serious gym rat or anything. But I totally got into going to the gym with my wife. Exercise was great for my health and wellness and we were able to share something as well. So when the pandemic shut down the gym for us, we decided to make one in the basement. I called the HVAC company to have them install a ductless heat pump down there. And then we just started looking for use exercise equipment online. The next thing we know, there is a great gym with great heating and cooling in our home. I’m glad to be able to get back out to doing some things now that I’m fully vaccinated. But no way I trade the perfect HVAC comfort of my home gym for another gym membership.

It’s nice to be sort of even about things.

I do my best not to get to up about things and at the same time, not to get too low either.

It’s a bit of a balance but I think that I’m at my best when I live life like this. Perhaps that has a lot to do with the example nature has set for me. I live in a region where we have four very distinct and measured seasons. So when your sick of HVAC heating, it won’t be long until you don’t need it. Then just like that, you realize that it’s time to turn on the air conditioning. That’s the sort of balance we have around here. It’s like we can just start getting over one season and the next one is right around the corner. For heating and cooling, we are lucky that all we need is the heat pump. That piece of heating and cooling equipment is just perfect for this region. We have a fairly cold winter with some snow and ice. But the heat pump more than holds its own when it comes to heating the house. And the same goes for the HVAC cooling. Of course, the heat pump is in its wheelhouse with HVAC cooling. That’s what started the whole thing. But our home is always so comfortable and we get tremendous cooling comfort from our air conditioning. This balance of seasons may have shown me that balance in life is just so essential. Sometimes it’s not easy to maintain. And like everyone else I get out of balance time and again. Yet, I’m learning to recognize that sooner and sooner in order to do what I need to do to get back in balance again.
