Having a hard time picking an a/c unit

I had debated about having an AC installed in my new home for the longest time.

Having lived in an area where temperatures were pretty much regulated all seasons long, I never really valued the essence of owning an air conditioning system unit. However, I got enough warning that things were different in my new town. I knew that I needed the cooling system if I could get through the scorching summer time around the corner, but a bit of research on the internet did not make things easy for me and I still struggled with the Heating and Air Conditioning system’s choice to settle on. No one told me that there was more to this than checking out brands. It took having a friendly chat with a HVAC professional at my neighbor’s house for me to learn more about the air conditioning system. I had battled with the plan of installing numerous units to serve me while in Winter and summer, respectively, and this conversation opened my eyes. I visited the Heating and Air Conditioning shop around the corner to explore the different options that were available for my space. Two weeks later, and after thorough and extensive checks and measurements, the perfect AC was installed. Thankfully, I only need one machine that will serve me while in both extreme seasons. The smart control machine is my favorite feature of the entire machine because it allows me to conveniently set temperatures at any location’s convenience, while it is not always easy to choose a heating and cooling system for your house, taking it to trained professionals makes it easier, and contact the nearest Heating and

Modulating HVAC System

Temperature and humidity control are two main advantages of modulating HVAC systems, but these concepts are sometimes too abstract for homeowners during the HVAC system purchasing process.

It is important to demonstrate how temperatures and humidity can affect daily life.

While a fixed speed HVAC system can only run at full speed, a modulating system can have two or more speeds. In terms of temperature, this means a modulating system will provide consistent air conditioning that is commensurate with the need in the home, as opposed to fixed speed’s all or nothing method. A homeowner would notice this difference most in the rooms that receive the least airflow and leads to hot and cold spots. A fixed speed system can cause a homeowner to be both too hot and too cold. A modulating system can provide a longer lasting and less intense airflow, keeping your rooms at a more precise temperature and providing better comfort control while you are asleep. In modulating HVAC systems, more air is cycled through, which removes moisture and lowers indoor humidity. This saves energy and keeps your humidity level lower than 50 percent. A modulating system prevents harmful mold growth as well. It’s important to evaluate how important in home comfort and livability are. Purchasing a modulating HVAC system can provide tangible benefit to the way you live and sleep and for some people, can be priceless!

Space Heater Safety

Portable electric heaters are high wattage appliances that have the potential to ignite nearby combustible materials like curtains, beds, sofas, paper, clothing, and flammable liquids.

  • If ignition results from a heater left on and unattended, a major fire could result.

The CPSC recommends the following for the safe use of electric heaters. You should never operate a heater if you suspect it has been damaged. Before use, inspect the heater, cord, and plug. Never leave it operating while unattended or while you are sleeping. Keep combustible material such as beds, sofas, curtains, paper, and clothes at least three feet from the front, sides, and rear of the heater. Be sure that the heater plug fits tightly in the wall. Never power the hater with an extension cord or power strip. Ensure that the heater is placed on a stable, level surface, and located where it will not be knocked over. When purchasing, always ask the salesperson whether the heater has been safety certified. Never run the heater’s cord under rugs or carpeting because it could damage the cord and cause burning. Lastly, to prevent electrical shocks and electrocutions, always keep electric heaters away from water and never touch an electric heater if you are wet. Spread the news and inform you friends and families on the ways to use an electric heater more safely.

Asthma Triggers in Your Home

Asthma is a serious lung disease.

During an asthma attack, the airways get narrow and make it difficult to breathe.

Symptoms of asthma include wheezing, shortness of breath, and coughing and can even cause death. The air that we breathe can make a difference. Asthma is triggered by allergens and irritants commonly found in homes. Some common triggers of asthma are secondhand smoke, dust mites, pets, molds, and pests. Asthma can be triggered by secondhand smoke of cigars, cigarettes, and pipes breathed out by a smoker. Choose not to smoke in your home or car and don’t allow others to do so either. Dust mites are too small to be seen but they are found in every home. They live in mattresses, pillows, carpets, clothes, toys, and more. Washing sheets and blankets in hot water once a week will prevent triggering asthma by dust mites. Your pets skin flakes, urine, and saliva can be asthma triggers. Consider keeping pets outdoors if possible and out of the bedroom and other sleeping areas. Mold grows on damp materials. The key to mold control is moisture control. If mold is existent in your home, clean it up. Absorbent materials that have mold may need to be thrown away. Fix leaky plumbing, keep drip pans in your air conditioner, refrigerator, and dehumidifier clean and dry. Also, vent your clothes dryer to the outside. Pest droppings or body parts of pests such as cockroaches, or rodents can be asthma triggers. Do not leave food or garbage out. Store food in airtight containers. Clean all crumbs and fluids and try to use poison baits, boric acid, or traps first before using pesticide sprays. Taking these measures in your home can reduce the chance of your asthma getting triggered causing some really uncomfortable symptoms.

Voiding your warranty

In order for your system to remain in good working condition, replacing your unit and scheduling annual AC maintenance is a necessity, to keep your warranty valid.

A warranty is your budget’s saving grace and covers certain repairs and replacements. If your warranty is not voided, there is no need to dip in your savings if your system unexpectedly needs a repair or replacement. You should be aware of common mistakes customers make that void warranties. Many manufacturers require that a customer register the unit within a limited window of time in order for the warranty to take effect. The value outweighs the short time it takes to complete the registration process. Parts will break or fail even though air conditioners are durable. They are not indestructible. Remember to only use replacement parts from the company that manufactured your air conditioner. Making sure your unit is installed by a professional is crucial. A DIY or uncertified installation can lead to poor equipment operation, comfort problems, higher energy bills, and a voided warranty. Annual maintenance is a must. In order for your system to remain in good working condition, replacing your unit and scheduling annual AC maintenance is a necessity, to keep your warranty valid. Keeping a record of receipts from every visit is also a recommendation. When your unit malfunctions and you request coverage under your warranty, the manufacturer will ask you for proof. They want to know who installed the unit and make sure it was a professional and they want to know if the system is receiving its annual maintenance it needs. Taking these steps will keep you from voiding your warranty so you can use it to your advantage when you need it the most.

I had to leave my job for mental health reasons

I spent 35 years working for the same company.

  • I started out working as a coal miner and then I started working in a heating repair shop when the mine closed.

That heating repair shop is now a multi million dollar company with branches in seventeen different states. We service residential, commercial, and industrial accounts. When I retired, I was in charge of the entire Heating and Cooling division and I wasn’t ready to stop working. I was in charge of an entire crew and I liked the responsibility and the thrill of working every day. I finally retired a couple of months ago. I wasn’t ready to leave the job or the business, but my wife wanted to retire and she wanted both of us to move down south. I knew it was a good idea and I knew that I would work until I was ready to enter the grave if my wife didn’t ask me to stop. When I told my boss back I was going to retire, he was really shocked and surprised. When he threw me a party, I was shocked and surprised. The guy also gave me a huge bonus and a nice retirement package. My boss was sad to see me leave after 35 years, but the guy knew that it was time for me to do something different for a while. Some days I miss the old job and the constantly busy days, but I really enjoy playing golf every afternoon and I wouldn’t trade fishing for anything. Retirement is a lot more fun than working a nine to five job.

Helping get rid of moisture can actually save your AC

Moisture is one of the most serious problems that plagues AC systems today.

Moisture causes a lot of damage.

Moisture can cause rust and rust can lead to parts not properly running like they should. Moisture makes the air heavy. When the air is heavier, the AC has to work a lot harder to cool the air and get rid of the moisture. One way that you can actually get rid of the moisture inside of your home is using a dehumidifier. A dehumidifier is a special machine that is made just to remove the excess moisture from the indoor air. Dehumidifiers are available in a variety of shapes and sizes and they can be used in residential and commercial applications. My wife and I bought a dehumidifier for our house because the AC unit wasn’t properly cool. We thought there was a problem with the AC, but everything was working perfectly. The HVAC technician that performed the tune up on our AC suggested that we buy a dehumidifier to help remove some of the moisture from the indoor air. My wife and I were not thrilled with the idea of purchasing another machine to help with the indoor air, but we thought it might be the only way to help the indoor air quality. We looked at several different models before we chose the right dehumidifier for our home. We paid a contractor to help with the installation. It’s been six months since we bought the dehumidifier and I can honestly say that using the small machine has really helped our indoor air quality.

Air purifiers can alleviate a lot of indoor allergies

70% of Americans spend a majority of their day indoors.

Unfortunately, the indoor air can be filled with pollutants and contaminants that aggravate allergies.

Air purifiers are made to help with indoor allergies. Air filters remove a majority of indoor air contaminants like odors from pets, dust, dirt, pollen, and pet dander.. They filter the air and get rid of harmful bacteria and viruses. In fact, most hospitals and laboratories run air purifiers all day and all night in order to provide an indoor atmosphere that is free of allergens. My wife and I suffer from terrible pet allergies. When we moved to our new apartment, we immediately noticed that our allergies were affected by the indoor air. My wife and I did not realize it right away, but the lady in the apartment next to ours has three dogs. The pet dander gets stuck in the ductwork and it comes into our apartment. It’s really difficult to keep the allergens out of our apartment since they share some ductwork. My wife and I had to get an air purifier for our apartment in order to stop the allergens from attacking our sinuses. I was really worried that the air purifier wouldn’t work well enough to relieve our symptoms, but both of us are feeling much better since we called the heating and cooling store and had them bring a portable air purifier. We usually keep the air purifier in our bedroom, but sometimes we will bring it out to the living room if we plan to spend most of our day in that space.

The house smells like smoke, but my kid swears he is innocent

I noticed a strange smell in the house a couple of weeks ago.

I didn’t recognize the odor and I couldn’t find the source of the smell.

I really thought I was going crazy. I was terribly worried that I was losing my mind. Even my son said he didn’t smell anything funny. I thought I was the only person who could smell the nasty and horrible odor. I didn’t smell the odor for days and I thought it was gone. Then I smelled the odor again last night. This time I started searching all over the house for the source. I thought an animal died in the ductwork. That problem happened one time in the past when my husband and I had our first house. An animal got lost in the ductwork and could not find its way out. The animal died of hunger and thirst and the body started to rot inside of the ductwork. By the time we smelled the horrible order, it was way too late for the little guy. I thought for sure we had the same problem again until I realized that my son was smoking in his bedroom. I smelled the nicotine in the living room. My son must have thought that I was already asleep. I burst through his door and I saw him standing at the window with a lit cigarette in his hand. He nearly jumped out the window when he saw the mad and furious look on my face. I doubt that will be the last time that he smokes, but it will absolutely be the last he smokes in my house.
