When I was younger, I was overly reliant on my relationships for help and support.

I never felt like I could make good decisions, so I would appeal to all of the people around me for their opinions. I’m not sure why I thought that everyone was smarter than I was… Because oftentimes their advice backfired right in my face. These days, I try to make more decisions on my own. That is, until I made the stupid choice of asking for help when it came to selecting a professional heating, cooling, and air quality control dealership for my recent indoor air temperature control equipment update. I have been trying to save enough money to upgrade my heating, cooling, and ventilation system for quite a while. When I finally had enough money in the bank and I couldn’t stand my uneven indoor air temperature anymore, I decided to start looking for the right indoor air quality control repair shop. I thought it would be a good idea to ask my friends and neighbors for their best recommendations when it came to heating, cooling, and ventilation assistance. Unfortunately, I got a lot of different answers from a lot of different people. Half of the folks pointed me towards one HVAC repair shop, and the other half were insistent that I should check a different Home Comfort specialist. In the end, I hired a heating, cooling, and air quality control repair shop recommended by my closest neighbor… And regretted every second of it. Next time, I make my heating and cooling decisions for myself.

When you live in a small town you notice that life is pretty expensive. It’s not that there are fun things to go see and do, it’s the exact opposite. Because there are so few businesses in the area, all of them charge a premium price for the goods and services that they offer. In this way, you wind up spending more money on medical bills, groceries, and even the utility expenses. For example, when I moved into a new town and there was only one heating, cooling, and ventilation dealership… Things were very expensive. You could not purchase an air conditioning unit or furnace without giving them your left arm. You could not have a heating, cooling, or air purification device installed without bargaining down to a reasonable price. You could not have any kind of indoor temperature control equipment failure without saying goodbye to your entire savings account. With all of this in mind, you had to be very careful when you were programming your thermostat to activate your furnace or air conditioning unit. You never wanted to put additional wear and tear on the heating, cooling, and ventilation system because you could not get it repaired for a reasonable price. Heaven forbid you needed to replace the entire indoor air handling device, you might as well start selling your kidney on the black market right away. With all of this in mind, I decided to start my own heating, cooling, and air quality control dealership. I didn’t know anything about HVAC, but I knew a bit about business. Within a few years the heating and cooling prices had dropped in town, and my business had increased massively.

I really try not to be the type of person who requires a lot of things in life to be happy. When I look around at my friends and family, I get very discouraged by the number of things that they cannot live without. For instance, my mom will absolutely lose her mind if she doesn’t have creamer for her coffee in the morning. I’m sorry, but I consider this to be a pretty high maintenance way to live when a basic grocery item will make or break your entire week. This is one of the reasons that I have been trying to save on money, streamline my life, and live as minimally as possible. My heating, cooling, and air quality control system is definitely one of the more difficult items to live without. I wish that I could shut off my central heating, cooling, and ventilation system and be happy… But that hasn’t worked out so far. In fact, I would consider myself rather obsessed with my thermostat because I love to adjust my indoor air quality control equipment to match the outdoor climate conditions whenever possible. Unfortunately, when I tried to upgrade my thermostat to a smart temperature control device, I found that my indoor air temperature control woes actually got worse. One of the things that completely threw me off was the accidental programming of my dehumidification system. In the middle of winter when the air was already superdry, I definitely did not need extra moisture removed from my indoor air. But because I had vowed to stay away from my thermostat, I didn’t notice the automatic programming of the dehumidifier until I had already spent a fortune on it. So much for saving.

My girlfriend got a cat last week, and I have quickly come to realize that I am allergic to cats.

Growing up, I didn’t have any pets in the house.

My mom was allergic to dogs, so we didn’t have dogs, cats, guinea pigs, or even fish. I didn’t spend much time with people that had cats, so I never realized that they might be a trigger for my allergies. Last week when my girlfriend got a cat, she called me over to see the cute feline. I was only in her apartment for 30 minutes and I started sneezing. I sneezed six or seven times. I thought it was dust but the sneezing continued the rest of the night and my throat started to get scratchy and itchy. I never felt those types of symptoms in the past, so I decided to look them up online and I found out that I might be allergic to cats. I made an appointment with my primary health care physician next week and I am going to have a series of allergy tests performed. If I am allergic to the cat, then I guess my girlfriend is going to have to get an indoor air purifier to get rid of the pet dander. I won’t be able to visit and stay overnight if I can’t breathe. A friend of mine has terrible allergies and he had to buy an air purifier to help with the grass outside. His allergies are way worse than mine, but the cats really do cause problems for me.

Tuesday afternoon, I was almost finished with my work for the day and my boss called to add one more repair before I went home.

A lady called the HVAC repair store, because she heard sounds in the ductwork above the living room.

The woman claimed that her AC wasn’t cooling properly and she thought the sounds in the ductwork were the reason. I was the closest person in proximity to the address, so the job was added to my schedule. I didn’t know what to expect when I arrived at the address. The lady answered the door and welcomed me into her home. I asked a couple of questions regarding the service call and she told me about the problems and the noises. I decided the best place to start was the ductwork. I grabbed some tools from the truck and a long telescoping camera that I used to see in tight spaces. The camera is great to see inside of ductwork, because it has a light and a record feature. I used the camera to inspect all of the Interior areas of the ductwork. I didn’t see anything out of the ordinary. I serviced the HVAC unit and I didn’t find any problems that would cause issues. When I told the woman that everything looked good, she called me a liar. She was convinced there was something wrong with the HVAC unit and she didn’t want to hear anything to the contrary. I wasn’t going to sit there and argue with the crazy lady, so I gave her an estimate and left the house.

This morning, I was assigned to help a customer with a residential AC repair.

The customer called because she heard a strange sound coming from the AC machine. The dispatch center wrote down all of the information on the call ticket. I called the customer before I left the workshop, so she was aware that I was on my way. I arrived about 30 minutes after my phone call. I quickly got started with the troubleshooting call. I remove the cover from the AC machine so I can check on the evaporator coils in the condenser. It didn’t take long before I realized that the AC machine was out of date and badly aged. I recommended replacing the AC system as soon as possible. Although the AC machine was working at the time, I felt strongly that it could break down and quit at any moment. The customer was shocked and surprised by my suggestion to buy a new air conditioner. She thanked me for my time and told me that she was going to get a second opinion from someone that knew what they were doing. I try not to be offended when customers don’t like my advice. People don’t expect bad news when they think the machine can be repaired. The customer never called us to replace the air conditioner, so I have no idea if she decided to get a second opinion or not. If she called another professional, I am certain they would give her the same exact advice that I did. The machine is ready for the junkyard.

My mom and dad bought a new air conditioner for the living room a couple of weeks ago.

My dad wanted to save money, so he bought an older machine from a five-and-dime store. The air conditioner still works well, but it is extremely loud. My mom asked me to watch the dogs all day yesterday while they went to a wedding. I agree to sit at the house. I didn’t know how to work that day and I didn’t have any plans with my friends. I grabbed a couple of snacks on my way to the house, so I had plenty of munchies for the day. I also stopped at a marijuana dispensary to pick up some supplies. I arrived at my mom and dad’s place about a half an hour before they had to leave for the wedding. The air conditioner in the living room was already running, because it was about 85 degrees outside. I talked to my mom and dad for a couple of minutes and then they left for the event. I sat down in the living room to watch a movie and the sound of the air conditioner was Extremely Loud. I turned the sound on the television all the way up to 75. I had to move to the other side of the living room, because I couldn’t hear the movie over the sound of the air conditioner. After the movie was over, I decided to go outside and sit on the porch for a while. I planned to relax all day and watch movies, but it wasn’t very comfortable inside of the house. The AC sounded like a jet plane and I didn’t want to read my movies.

Every once in a while, my boss insists that I train one of the new employees.

I have been with a heating and AC repair company for the longest amount of time, but I absolutely hate talking to people.

I chose the job because I knew I would be working alone all day. Most of the day, I deal with heating and AC repairs. I only deal with customers for a short amount of time. I can handle talking to someone for a few minutes, but I don’t like to lead a conversation. When the boss insisted that I train the new guy, I protested and tried to offer another person as a better solution. My boss was unsure about the employee, so he wanted a trained professional to evaluate his skills. I took the guy with me on Tuesday morning, and he lasted for hours before I sent him home in a taxi. He didn’t know much at all about how the AC unit that we were assigned to repair early that morning. At least the young guy was helpful and followed directions very well. We finished the job before lunch and the guy expected us to stop somewhere so he could eat. I told him that we don’t normally stop for lunch. On the next job, I went to the business to speak with the customer and I told Paul to park the truck. He forgot to put the truck in park and it rolled backwards and hit a telephone pole, two cars, and a stop sign. I called the guy an Uber and told him to go home.

I didn’t know my son was getting rid of the food that he didn’t like, until I found it in his secret hiding spot.

He must have been putting food in that spot for several weeks, because the food was filled with mold and rotten.

I turned on the furnace this morning, because it was very cold last night. The house was only 55 degrees and I decided to turn on the furnace for a couple of hours. After a few minutes, I started to smell the most horrible odor coming from the kitchen. I looked all over the room and I even cleaned out the fridge. Still, the horrible odor lingered all over the room. I got out some cleaning supplies and I scrubbed all of the countertops. After I was finished, I got down on my hands and knees and scrubbed the floors. While I was scrubbing the floors, I found the location and source of the odor. On the left side of the dining room table, there is a vent for our furnace on the floor. My son sits on the chair directly above the furnace vent. I don’t think the amount of food was a mistake or an accident, so I assumed my son was hiding the food in the furnace vent. It was a clever place to hide the food, until I realized where the smell was coming from. When I confronted him with the truth, he started crying and begged me not to make him eat spinach. I’m lucky the food didn’t cause damage to the vent or the furnace.

My family and I have three dogs and a cat and it can be difficult to keep the house clean. My wife and I sweep and mop the living room, kitchen, dining room, and hallway every other day. We cast all of the surfaces in the house on Saturday morning. We also change the air filter in the heating and air conditioning system. The air filter gets changed every three weeks. We used to change the air filter monthly, but it was always covered in dog hair and dust by the time we changed to a new one. We decided last year to change the air filter every 3 weeks and I really do think it improves the indoor air quality. Last weekend, it was time to change the air filter in the heating and air conditioning system. I had a brand new box mailed from the store and I opened it up that morning. I pulled one of the air filters out of the box and I took off the protective plastic. I tried to place the air filter inside of the heating and air conditioning system, but I quickly realized it was way too big. I double checked the size of the air filter and it was marked with the same numbers as my old air filter. I replaced the two air filters up to one another and they were clearly different sizes. I found a tape measure and I decided to check the measurements on each one of the air filters. The new filters in the box were marked with the wrong size. I had to call the company to get a refund.
