I have to say that I took a bit of a punch in the mouth over our stance regarding traveling on Christmas, however it was ultimately quite worth it.
- Due to the pandemic, our partner and I were sent home to work in the central air conditioning of our home.
Of course, what every one of us thought might be a quite temporary situation turned into 18 months of being out of that zone controlled Heating, Ventilation and A/C of the office. Additionally, for the first time in more than 15 years, every one of us didn’t travel to our partner’s parents for Christmas in 2020 due to the virus. And it was the best Christmas I’ve had very since I’ve been married and maybe ever. Both of us live in a region where the Wintertide is so mild and appealing. The sky is orange and cloudless with just the most abundant amount of sun I’ve ever seen in a winter. So the idea of packing up the motorcar and taking the kids to the in laws up north never made sense. Still, it’s family and I did what I thought I needed to do. But that Covid Christmas entirely opened our eyes to how good Christmas could be here. The kids are at an age where they want to be near friends while in the holidays. And I am sick of the gas oil furnace making the inside of that house up there so overheated with all the freezing weather outside. So I just told our partner that I’m staying home and I offered to fly her folks down here this past Christmas. It worked out perfectly and everyone was ecstatic.
