The coffee table was ugly.

My husband and I were at his brother’s house for a picnic.

He was showing John something he had in his workroom, and John spied a table he had there.

It was possibly one of the ugliest coffee tables I’d ever seen in my whole life. John wanted to know what his brother was going to do with it? I couldn’t believe his brother told him he was going to break it up and burn it. As ugly as the coffee table was, I still couldn’t see any reason for him to want to burn it. John fell in love with that old coffee table, and when we got home that evening, it was in our truck. I wasn’t sure where I wanted that ugly orange coffee table to set, but with a cloth cover, it wouldn’t be too bad. John pulled out his cellphone, and he began taking digital pictures of the coffee table. I told him that when he was done taking pictures, he should let me know and we would figure out where we were going to put the coffee table. An hour later, I heard a loud woo hoo from him. He started showing me pictures of the table that he had taken, and as just shook my head and told him I knew what it looked like. He told me I didn’t understand. He started going through other pictures, and although they looked a bit different, they still looked the same. He said that his brother had just given up an original shaker coffee table. Back in the 1800s, the shakers would paint their wooden furniture in odd colors like orange, yellow, green, or even red. His brother was about ready to burn an antique.
