It is hard to be comfortable without central A/C

Our school does not have a central air conditioning system, and it honestly makes life a lot more difficult. There is no way that I am going to be comfortable in this environment unless the school decides to purchase an actual central air conditioning system. I volunteered to teach at a school in a foreign country. This school is located in a really awful country with a really warm temperature, and since the school is really poor, they had to figure out how they were going to spend their money in a wise manner. Thankfully, they decided that curriculum would be the most important aspect of empowering their children for the future. This meant that the school was never going to be able to afford a central air conditioning system. They reasoned that the school did not need a central air conditioning system since most of the students did not have a central air conditioning system, living without a central air conditioning system was a way of life for them, so nobody thought to miss the central air conditioning system, I live in the US, and I have always had a central air conditioning system in my house. I am used to having a comfortable environment, so living without a central air conditioning system in a warm temperature was a huge problem for me. It has honestly been an adjustment for me, and I have finally learned to not be miserable. Still, I will be glad to transfer back home where I have a central air conditioning system. Have you ever lived or worked in a place that does not have a central air conditioning system?
