To reduce the energy bills, we had to pay for better duct insulation

We had a tough year as a family in 2020.

Everyone was on edge when we realized the pandemic was getting worse.

Some places had set up lockdowns and curfews, while others encouraged stay-at-home policies. As a person working in the hospitality industry, my job ended as soon as flights got canceled and tourists weren’t coming that coming summer. We had to rely on my husband’s income which was also slashed by 25%. One night, we discussed how we would survive and ensure we came out of this thing unscathed. The agreement we had was to find ways to reduce our monthly expenses. One concern was keeping the house cool in summer. We were all going to be home, meaning we had to run the cooling system 24/7. That was a lot of energy consumption which would result in an expensive energy bill. My partner knew we first had to ensure the air conditioning was running efficiently to lower energy consumption. Though many other services were down, our local AC business was still operating and taking immense caution during appointments. We booked one to have the AC system in our home inspected and fixed in case there were any issues. The HVAC expert who came to the house did the inspection and informed us our system wasn’t bad. It required a bit of service to work as efficiently as possible. In addition, the ductwork had some gaps that had to be closed, plus additional duct sealing to avoid any air loss. That was a great evaluation, and we authorized him to start work immediately.
