Movies under the stars, but only when it’s freezing out

I was lucky to have cool roommates when the lockdown hit.

Every one of us had a span of a few weeks where both of us literally could go nowhere, and were totally homebound.

If I had been trapped with another group of guys, it might have been torturous, but both of us managed to make the most of it. It helped that both of us were all easily into smoking weed and seeing motion pictures, because that was about all both of us could do. I had the plan to set up a makeshift motion picture screen in the backyard, so both of us could smoke and watch motion pictures under the stars. When it got cold, both of us dragged the old space furnace outside and used it as a footrest, but when it got too tepid there was little both of us could do. First of all both of us didn’t have a small a/c, and even if both of us did, resting it outside entirely wouldn’t make much difference to the heat and humidity. Also, there is a immense difference that I have seen in the volume levels of gas gas furnaces as opposed to cooling units. A space furnace might hum a little bit, but it will never be loud enough to drown out a motion picture, then can you imagine one of those hotel sized a/cs roaring away while both of us were trying to watch a motion picture? Even if it worked at cooling us off, both of us wouldn’t be able to hear anything else. Alas, outdoor motion picture afternoons only happen when it gets cold, and the rest of the time both of us stay in the boring old residing room with the central air conditioning.
