I was surprised when I went over to my buddy’s house and the air quality was terrible.
I noticed that the HVAC system was hardly working and I asked my friend what was going on.
He said he couldn’t afford any new air filters and he tried something crazy. He said he smashed two air filters together and shoved them in so they would provide extra filtering power. I looked at him for a moment and had to say, “Let me get this straight, you are using two dirty air filters in your HVAC unit?” He said he was and asked me if I thought it was a brilliant plan. I shook my head and told my friend he made a foolish mistake. Fortunately he had only been using the cooling system for that morning with those two dirty air filters crammed together like that. I told him I would buy him some new air filters and he could pay me back. On the way I explained how the two dirty air filters were only making the HVAC system struggle more and that was why it was such a bad idea. I had to tell him that one of the most important things with the HVAC system is having plenty of airflow. I told him if the airflow was struggling too much, the HVAC system would eventually overheat and a lot of damage could be caused that would be expensive to have repaired. He seemed to get it, but I couldn’t be entirely sure. Still, the HVAC was working when we got the new air filter in there and took the two smashed air filters out.
