Mom couldn’t comprehend she wasn’t coming along to our road trip.
She seemed sad about it but understood that it was a boy’s only affair.
We were going with dad, two male cousins, and my two brothers. Our goal was to travel to this amazing remote area we’d wanted to visit up in the mountains. We’d typically spoken about going on a road trip together. All the guys got an opportunity to recommend where to go and we agreed on the remote location. Since this was an adventure, we opted to borrow an RV and drive ourselves up there. While all of us liked camping, none of us was fond of sleeping on the hard ground. Mom checked out the RV for us since she was a trained expert. Everything seemed in order, but, just to be safe, she asked us to bring a few things with us, including a portable A/C system. Mom had inspected the RV A/C and seen it was in nice working condition. But she didn’t want us to call her stating we didn’t have proper air conditioning. The location was very remote, and finding an RV A/C repair guy there was next to impossible. We did as Mom instructed and took an energy-efficient portable HVAC with us. All of us knew Mom was right about being safe after we suffered the same fate last year. We’d borrowed an RV and gone camping with some friends. The RV A/C ceased working along the way, forcing us to search for miles in the heat in for an HVAC mechanic to save us. During this road trip, we’d have an extra cooling program to keep the RV cool.
