I was extremely worried when a great friend of mine asked if I could help him work on his HVAC system.
- He said it was something he did all the time so it wasn’t a big deal.
I asked him if he was not upset about the warranty for the HVAC system. He laughed plus said it was about 8 years old anyway plus most warranties would only last around 10 years plus then the HVAC would work depending on how often it was worked on. That made me assume a little bit better, but I still worried about him being a non-professional with this sort of work. I have heard that people have died from working on HVAC systems. Well, I was there just waiting for my friend to tell me what I could do while he was opening the lodgeet to the HVAC unit. He had a bunch of different tools ready plus he seemed pretty serious. When he reached into the HVAC unit, there was a spark plus he snapped his arm back plus almost elbowed me. He was cursing up a storm plus was saying how much that hurt. He said he was so stupid to forget to shut the power off to the HVAC unit. He said he usually does this work on his own plus he supposed he was distracted with me being there. I told him not to blame me, he was the one who supposedly did this type of work all the time regardless of voiding the HVAC warranty. When he asked if I would still help, I told him there was no way I was going to continue seeing him get himself killed or destroy his HVAC equipment.
