I am one of the few in my area that actually has a smart thermostat for their central heating and air conditioning system.
Around here, most people like to do things old school.
But as for me, when it comes to my heating and air conditioning, I always like to be up to date on the latest and very best in HVAC technology. However, things sometimes go wrong with the smart thermostat. One of which is that the app on the cell phone sometimes messes up and it takes 24 hours for it to reset itself. I don’t know why this is. But the heating and air conditioning specialist told me that it was because my phone was most likely outdated. I am not getting a new phone right now, so I have to deal with it when it happens. But I have a good back up, which is my home computer and my laptop. I have copies of the app to run the smart thermostat on both of those. So although I can not control the smart thermostat while away from home during the 24 hour reset period, I can stil program it to go on and off at certain times and do everything and anything else with the smart thermostat that is needed through the computer. I was glad I decided to get the app on both home computer and laptop. Otherwise, I would probably be forced to buy a new phone at this point just so I could have control over my smart thermostat. But all around, I love the smart thermostat and all it does for my heating and air conditioning needs.
