Replacing my furnace

No one wants to replace a furnace.

Before it is that time, learn from my experience and save yourself from frustration.

My previous furnace kept my home warm for more than 15 years. But, it had an equipment flaw that caused a part to rust and prevented all the carbon monoxide from venting out of the house. I didn’t know this until my HVAC technician came to do an annual inspection. This is why it’s important to have your HVAC system inspected at least once a year. I had two options. I could have had the part fixed or replaced for free, leaving me with a functional but old furnace, or I could accept the $800 rebate toward a new furnace. It made more sense for me to choose the second option. I was able to use a $400 rebate from my natural gas provider to cover the cost of upgrading to a more energy efficient furnace. Rebates are important to ask about in relation to furnace or air conditioning replacement. The cost of a new furnace can be a budget buster, but don’t forget how the new furnace may decrease monthly energy expenses. There can be upsides to an upgrade. My new furnace operates much more quieter now and keeps my house heated more evenly throughout the day during those cold winter months. While I am willing to tackle many DIY projects on my own, I have learned that furnace installation is a job for the professionals. A good tip to remember is to always do an annual test run. Start your furnace before the cold weather hits to make sure it’s functioning well. You will have better luck with reaching a technician quickly for troubleshooting and tuneups before a cold snap.
