I had to leave our job for mental health reasons

I knew it was a good system and I knew that I would labor until I was ready to enter the grave if our wife didn’t ask me to stop.

I spent 35 years laboring for the same contractor. I started out laboring as a coal miner and then I started laboring in a heating repair shop when the mine closed. That heating repair shop is now a multi million dollar contractor with branches in seventeen weird states. We service residential, commercial, and industrial accounts. When I retired, I was in charge of the entire Heating and Cooling division and I wasn’t ready to stop laboring. I was in charge of an entire crew and I liked the responsibility and the thrill of laboring every afternoon. I finally retired a couple of weeks ago. I wasn’t ready to leave the job or the business, however our wife wanted to retire and she wanted both of us to transport down south. I knew it was a good system and I knew that I would labor until I was ready to enter the grave if our wife didn’t ask me to stop. When I told our boss back I was going to retire, he was very shocked and surprised. When he threw me a party, I was shocked and surprised. The guy also gave me a crucial bonus and a nice retirement package. My boss was anxious to see me leave after 35 years, however the guy knew that it was time for me to do something weird for a while! Some days I miss the old job and the always busy days, although I very appreciate playing hockey every afternoon and I wouldn’t trade fishing for anything, and retirement is a lot more fun than laboring a 9 to several job.
