Normally I just browse through the latest new section to see what’s interesting.
In particular, I go over sports, education and home improvement stories. Last week, this one story I came across under home improvement was baffling to say the least. It wasn’t much about the nature of the story but rather, the person involved. Carl is quite a reserved introvert. You can never be sure what’s going on through his mind. He lives with his family two gates away from us. This morning the police were at his door, taking him away. Everyone wondered what’s going on, until his work supervisor explained it to a few neighbours. Apparently, there was a search warrant issued for his arrest after he stole new heating units from his employer. It wasn’t a one time thing, he has been carrying away heating equipment and cooling techs for a while. He was found to have stolen a heater, furnace, heat pump, dual fuel system parts, space heaters and zoned HVAC system repair parts. The transition period between his old supervisor and the current one left a loophole that he exploited together with his colleague. He was a field technician performing duct sealing, servicing heated floors, and air conditioning system in general. His arrest inspired me to learn more about air conditioning and understand what a heating and cooling corporation does. Since his arrest, he hasn’t been home in ages, especially since his story appeared in the local news. His family eventually moved out of the neighbourhood out of embarrassment.
