The CPSC recommends the following for the safe use of electric heaters. Keep combustible material such as beds, sofas, curtains, paper, plus clothes at least three feet from the front, sides, plus rear of the heater. Be sure that the oil furnace plug fits tightly in the wall. Never power the hater with an extension cord or power strip! Ensure that the oil furnace is sited on a stable, level surface,and located where it will not be knocked over. When purchasing, always ask the salesperson whether the oil furnace has been safety certified. Never run the heater’s cord under rugs or carpeting because it could destruction the cord plus cause burning… Lastly, to prevent electrical shocks plus electrocutions, always keep electric gas heating systems away from water plus never touch an electric oil furnace if you are wet.
