I wasn’t even disappointed the other day when my wife said she had no idea what we would do for dinner.

She usually has plans to prepare something amazing, and she has always been a good cook.

Of course, I know sometimes she’s just not in the mood for preparing dinner, especially on some of the more stressful days dealing with work related things. I told her there was no need to fear because there was this new restaurant in town that I wanted to take her and the kids to. I said they had a children’s menu and they had special desserts for the little ones. Her eyes lit up and she asked if she would be getting a special dessert too. I told her of course, they had some NY style cheesecake and brownie bombs filled with chocolate. She said it sounded nice and so everybody got ready to go. I adjusted the thermostat before leaving because I didn’t want to waste energy while we were not home. I also adjusted the climate control in the car too as I usually do to the ideal temperature control settings. Personally, I think having the cooling system set at 72 degrees is just right. It’s a good thing I made a reservation as soon as I told my wife about the place, because we were able to get a table as soon as we arrived even though the place was kind of crowded. It was especially nice that we were able to get a table close to the fireplace that was inside. My children kept talking about how nice it was being across from the fireplace, and they also enjoyed their food immensely as did we.

I hated when my friends and cousins called me ‘chicken’ over the years

When I was young, my friends and cousins would usually make fun of me for being so small.

Also whenever they wanted to get me to do something I didn’t want to do, they would call me a chicken and then I would prove that I could do whatever.

I guess I stepped up to most challenges except for the time when they dared me to go down this steep hill on my bike. My one cousin ended up doing it for real and he got severely injured and had to be rushed to the hospital. I couldn’t believe that it could have been me who was injured like that and honestly if he didn’t land the right way, he could have been killed too. I remember visiting our cousin in that hospital where they kept the AC system blasting like crazy. Our cousin was miserable the whole time and kept complaining about the air conditioning being on too high. He swore those doctors were torturing him with the AC system on purpose, but they claimed it was policy to help prevent the spread of pathogens. When I was older, my cousins all said they were going to different colleges and if I was smart, I would too. I didn’t want to go to a regular college, and I honestly didn’t know what I wanted to do at first. One friend of mine told me he was going to an HVAC trade school though, and that sounded interesting. Even when my cousins said I was chicken for not going to a regular college, I proved to them once again that I would come up with an appropriate move of my own. I went to become a qualified HVAC professional and I have been making big money ever since.

The cab ride from the airport was the worst

I was actually surprised when my wife told me that she wanted to take a trip to the city.

I never was a fan of being around a lot of people, I felt claustrophobic in situations like that with a lot of crowds.

Still, I wanted my wife to be happy and so we took a flight to a city that she always wanted to go to. I felt miserable as soon as we arrived at the airport, but that was because the climate control system wasn’t very good. At least the temperature control settings weren’t so great and the air quality seemed lacking. I thought it would be better when we got outside to some fresh air, but it was a rather overheated day. Of course, I thought when we got a taxi, we would feel refreshed with the AC system in the ride. Well, the AC system was at a reasonable setting, however the cab smelled terrible like people threw up just recently and there was the smell of spilled beer as well. When my wife started panicking like she was going to throw up, I told the cab driver to stop and let us out. I paid the man but I didn’t give him a huge tip because he made us sick with his cab that wasn’t kept up very well. I asked my wife if we should walk to the hotel we booked, and she said we should just call an Uber. The Uber car was so much nicer and actually the cost of the fare to the hotel wasn’t even costly. It was actually cheaper than the cab ride and I figured it would be best to use Uber to get around the city or we could always rent a car, but Uber certainly was convenient. The temperature control settings were perfect during our ride and the car smelled fresh.

My brother taught me how to make the best investments

I’m so lucky to have an older brother who is smart and knows how to make lucrative investments.

Even when we were young, he would bet his money on certain situations when he knew he could win.

He would always calculate the odds in his mind and know if he had a solid chance like when betting on pool matches and what not. He assessed the skill levels of the different players, and he was always right for the most part. It was interesting when he started investing in different stocks, and he started making huge money. He started advising me on what stocks to invest in too like different HVAC companies that were coming up and producing advanced HVAC products like ductless HVAC systems. He also advised me to invest in different companies like ‘Yahoo!’ when it was young and UPS. Also he got me into investing a lot in cryptocurrency. I bought a great deal of bitcoin when it was only a few bucks and that investment made me a huge sum of cash. Since I was rolling in the money, I decided to try making some smart investments of my own. I was looking to start a business, but I realized that I wanted to know all the ins and outs of the business before anything. I ended up going to school to achieve my HVAC certification. Friends asked me if I was just going to start my own business then, but I started working for a local HVAC company. I was trained well and was able to acquire an understanding about how to successfully operate a business like this. Before I knew it, I was running a successful business and of course I was still continuing to make smart investments.

I was happy when my brother became an HVAC professional, but I didn’t expect him to come to me for financial support.

He basically begged me to provide a certain amount of cash he needed for startup costs and he said it would be like me purchasing 10% of his company.

He said with me as an investor, I could make a great deal of money when his HVAC business became successful. I thought about it for a little while and realized that my brother had never done me wrong in our adult years. Sure when we were youngsters, we would fight over stupid things, but nothign serious. So I trusted him and made the investment in his company. He was so delighted and said that I wouldn’t regret it. I hoped so because I invested a lot of money! Well, business was very slow at first. I encouraged him to work on a website and maybe work along with an online marketing company. He thought that was a great idea and once he was able to do that, his business started growing fast. Suddenly, their telephones were ringing off the hook and my brother needed to hire more HVAC professionals. Now, my brother owns multiple HVAC shops across the state and it’s a properly run business. I mean, I knew that he would likely do well since he had a business degree on top of his HVAC qualification, but it was hard to part with all that money back then. Now, I’ve made a huge amount of profit thanks to the success of his business!

When I was telling my brother about the new smart thermostat I got, he was interested. One of the first things I had to point out is the fact that the smart thermostat can save you as much as 15% on the energy bills. I told him I had my energy bills for him to look at if he didn’t believe me about the savings. The energy bills have been way cheaper since installing the smart thermostat and I’m really appreciating the savings! My brother said he had to get one of these smart thermostats. I told him he could buy one online and I would help him to install the thing when it arrived at his home. So I was over at his place when he finally got his new smart thermostat and he was really excited. I asked him how much it cost him and when he said $400, I was stunned. I asked if it was a touchscreen thermostat or something, and he said it was actually the same model and make that I purchased. That was strange to me because I only paid $200 for mine. He said maybe I bought it on sale, but it actually wasn’t. I said the price should be that and I checked online again and sure enough, it was still $200. I learned that my brother bought his from an online auction site, likely from a drop shipper. That’s basically when people sell stuff from some online store that is not theirs, but they charge more money and send it to the customers so they earn a profit. I’m not sure why that’s legal, but it actually is and I think it’s so stupid. Anyway, I had to remind my brother he has to always look around for the best deals online, and then I helped him install the new thermostat.

I think that it is very important to have the knowledge to fix things at home without calling a professional every time there is a problem. I have stressed this to my children, so they can be self-reliable when they grow up. I taught them how to change the oil and check the tire. I taught them how to check the brakes and diagnose problems with the engine. I also taught the kids how to fix machines inside of the house like the furnace, air conditioner, washing machine, and others. When I had trouble with the AC unit in the house, I immediately started working on the air conditioner so I could fix the problem. I racked my brain for days and I was unable to come up with a solution to the problem. I needed the air conditioner to work and I wasn't having any luck on my own. I decided to call a repair service. I didn't want anyone to know that I called a pro, so I asked the service professional to park at the end of the street. The guy originally said that he would do that, but he still parked the repair truck in front of my home. I guess everyone in the neighborhood probably knows that I called a professional. I was trying to keep that a secret, but the HVAC repairman made it impossible after he blew my entire cover by parking in the driveway. It's only a simple matter of time before the kids find out that I had to call a professional for help. I'm sure they will have a few things to say about my temporary lapse in judgment. I'm getting older and that should be a pretty good excuse that warrants a little bit of extra help every now and then.

The alarm alerts me when things change in the house

I warned my kids to stop changing the temperature in the house when I was at work.

They continue to break the rules and I did not have any other option except to have my husband install a smart thermostat.

The bills were getting higher each and every month and I did not want to continue to pay the high bills just because the kids wanted to stay indoors every day during the summer season. We bought the kids a pool two years ago because they said they would spend more time outside. I think they swim in the pool for a month and then they spend every day indoors just like they do now. Last month the bill for the air conditioner was $500. The entire Bill does not just include the air conditioner, but a bulk of the money that we spend each month definitely comes from the use of the air conditioner. My husband and I work all day, so we know the kids aren’t the reason why the problem is occurring. I finally had enough and I sent my husband to the store to buy a new thermostat for the house. I read about these thermostats online. The smart thermostat has a feature that allows me to set a pin code for the machine and then my husband and I are the only people that can change the indoor temperature. We wanted the temperature control machine with an alarm that alerts me when things change in the house.

I was happy to help out my neighbor

My neighbor is a pretty good guy. My wife and I have lived across the street from him for the past 20 years. I watched the guys’ kids grow up and get married and then come back with grandchildren. It’s really been something amazing to see the family grow and change. When his wife died last year, my wife and I lended all the assistance that we could. We wanted to do anything we could to help Howard at the difficult time. One of the biggest problems at the time was the central AC in the house. The Wake was supposed to be held at Howard’s place, but he knew that the house was going to be too warm and humid for everyone to be comfortable. I told Howard not to worry about a thing and I grabbed a crew from the HVAC store and I went back to Howard’s place to work on the air conditioning system. I was honestly happy to help out my neighbor. My wife and I were sad when Howard moved away last year. His family decided to put him in an assisted living facility. Howard was having a visiting nurse 3 times a week, but it really wasn’t enough to help. Eventually his son and daughter decided to intervene. They offered to take him to live with one of them, but he did not want to leave the place where his wife was buried. He moved to an assisted living facility across the street from the cemetery. My wife and I still have opportunities every once in a while to visit with Howard and that is a benefit of having the guy close.
