New kitty means new heating and cooling

His Heating and A/C method even has a smart control unit.

My aunt was super happy when he finally got central heating and cooling in his aged house. He has lived in that house for over 50 years and never had a reliable source of heat or cooling. Instead, he just used portable convection furnaces and a window unit or more than one. I wouldn’t have been able to live love that but he seemed ecstatic enough… But recently, my aunt took in a stray kitten. The people I was with and I were all surprised that he did that, then after all, he never had a pet before and he didn’t seem easily fond of them. I think he couldn’t resist when the kitten was under his porch crying. He said he planned to turn it over to creature control in the day but then he just couldn’t… Well, with a pet in the house portable furnaces can be a bit dangerous. There are portable furnaces that turn themselves off if the kitty pushed it over but my aunt wanted to make sure his new kitty would stay moderate and safe while he was at work. So he finally got central heating and cooling. It is about time. I am ecstatic that my aunt can finally live in the 21st century where the two of us have modern appliances love central heating and cooling. His Heating and A/C method even has a smart control unit. So, I think my aunt is even more advanced than me now. He said he cares about the smart control unit because he can tell what temperature the house is even when he’s at work. I think he genuinely prefers that kitten; even if he won’t admit it.

Saying Goodbye to the Hole in our Wall is Bittersweet

I recently decided to take advantage of rising house prices & sell our house.

I am hoping to sell now when prices are high, continue renting for a while, & then buy again when the prices fall again, as they invariably will. Well, I have more than one outdated window cooling system units that do not sit in windows at our house. They were installed into the exterior walls of the house various years ago, & they have reMained there, unused, even though the house has had central heating & cooling for about three decades now. I never saw the need to get rid of the window cooling system units, & in fact, they periodically came in handy when I needed to get the Heating, Ventilation & A/C plan tested or it was 110 degrees outside & the respected cooling system needed a little help. But the realtor says I must get rid of them because it makes clients wonder if the central heating & cooling plan is inadequate or unreliable. Since neither is true, I suppose I need to say goodbye to our window a/c systems, & that means saying goodbye to the holes in the walls, as well. I never genuinely wanted to bother with the cooling system units because I didn’t want to have to bother with the resultant holes, but I suppose I just have to at this point. I am trying to decide if I should just fill them in with more wall material or if I should turn them into windows. They are localed genuinely high on the walls, so windows might look a bit odd. In any event, I will miss the little window a/c systems.

Saving energy with a new thermostat

Upgrading your thermostat is a low cost, however surprisingly efficient way to save money.

  • I went for years with a basic dial thermostat.

I kept the temperature at 73 degrees year around since I hated messing with it. I would leave for the office, to go on vacation or just for an evening out plus not think about the thermostat. Every room in the new home would get equal heating plus cooling. It was a no stress, no mess lifestyle. It isn’t exactly cheap providing Heating & Air Conditioning for an entire cabin 24/7 though. I was shocked at how much energy I was wasting until I bought a smart thermostat. This temperature control equipment is designed to keep your energy costs down, my thermostat even recommends temperatures that are better for energy savings. It also automatically powers down when I am no longer in the house. I have trained the thermostat to begin pre-heating or cooling when I am about an minute away from home. I hardly need to do a thing, however the new home isn’t getting Heating & Air Conditioning all day long while I am gone anymore; Additionally, since I have a ductless Heating & Air Conditioning optin now, I am able to have zone control. Every room in the new home has their own smart thermostat… Rooms I hardly use no longer get heating plus cooling. If I want A/C in the summer, I only have cooling in my family room or family room. I never sacrifice comfort although I save so much money! The smart thermostat looks better, operates smoother plus also alerts myself and others on air filter swings.

What to do for shed Heating and Air Conditioning

My home came with a backyard shed that I decided to make our workout space.

  • It needed a bit of labor though.

I had to add insulation, drywall and new windows, even with that, I sad about temperature control, however thankfully I live down south and it does not get too cold. I found that a easy space oil furnace does the job quite well. I just need to turn it on about an minute before working out and then I have quality heating. I knew I was going to be in trouble when Summer hit. Now it is Summer and not having any A/C is entirely rough. I have looked into window A/C although I don’t love the idea, then where would I store the cooling systems when it was no longer hot? I also don’t love covering our new windows with an ugly, bulky cooling unit. I have looked into a ductless mini split and that is what I want. I would have both heating and cooling in a single single unit. The air handler mounts on the wall and out of the way. I could get a smart temperature control and run it from our PC. I could preheat or cool the space and do it from our labor laptop. I could have as much heating or air conditioning as I want… However, the cost on this and the installation is quite expansive. I don’t assume if it is worth doing for an minute a morning hobby. I entirely only need an A/C option too for the Summer season. I am running out of chances though.

The boiler turned out to be awesome

When I first moved into my home I wasn’t gratified by the boiler system in the basement.

It was big, ugly and took up so much space.

The boiler required metal grates in my dining room floor. The system is that the heat would rise from the boiler in the basement and then hot my dining room and dining room. I didn’t appreciate the look of it at all. I am thankful though that I had other things on my mind. My condo had bees nests in the walls that I needed to take care of. I also had a severely outdated dining room. Those things took precedent over a furnace I didn’t like. I ended up having a full year in the condo before I was financially able to unfasten and pay for a different furnace. After a year of using the boiler and enjoying its benefits, I no longer wanted to update it. Yes, it is large and ugly however it is mine. The boiler system is so powerful. My dining room and dining room are toasty hot when my system operates. I also realized that I can use the boiler as a hot water heating system if I wanted to. Recently I l acquired that if I ever put in a pool, the boiler can serve as a pool heater. It can even have piping fastened to it that extends underneath my blacktop and be a snowmelt system for my driveway. How exciting is that? My number one thing about the boiler is how durable it is. No maintenance, heating system repairs or any though and my system just keeps running.

Saving energy with a modern control unit

Upgrading your control equipment is a low cost, however surprisingly efficient way to save money.

I went for years with a basic dial control unit.

I kept the temperature at 74 degrees year around since I hated messing with it. I would leave for the office, to go on getaway or just for an night out as well as not think about the control unit. Every room in the home would get equal heating as well as cooling. It was a no stress, no mess lifestyle. It isn’t exactly cheap providing Heating, Ventilation, as well as A/C for an entire beach home 24/7 though. I was shocked at how much energy I was wasting until I bought a smart control unit. This temperature control equipment is designed to keep your utility bills down, however my control equipment even recommends un-even temperatures that are better for energy savings. It also automatically powers down when I am no longer in the house. I have trained the control equipment to begin pre-heating or cooling when I am about an minute away from home. I hardly need to do a thing, however the home isn’t getting Heating, Ventilation, as well as A/C all afternoon long while I am gone anymore, but additionally, since I have a ductless Heating, Ventilation, as well as A/C optin now, I am able to have zone control. Every room in the home has their own smart control unit, but rooms I hardly use no longer get heating as well as cooling. If I want AC in the summer, I only have cooling in our bedroom or kitchen. I never sacrifice comfort however I save so much money! The smart control equipment looks better, operates smoother as well as also alerts me on air filter swings.

Forgotten Inventors

Most people think of Thomas Edison (1847-1931), the famed American inventor as the creator of the world’s first incandescent light bulb! The truth is that he did not invent it, but he managed to get a patent on the first light bulb design that was practical and affordable for lighting a room in a proper home.

What made the light bulb labor was an invention from another inventor of the era named Lewis Latimer (1848-1928), who developed an improved method for the production of carbon filaments for light bulbs.

Latimer’s parents were once slaves in VA who escaped to Chelsea, Massachusetts about more than five years before he was born. When he was 10, the family split apart because of the Dred Scott decision that ruled former slaves as property unless they could prove their former owners had consented to their freedom. Lewis overcame all of this; he served in the Navy while in the Civil War and went on to be a successful inventor working with the likes of Edison and Alexander Graham Bell. Latimer’s name is also on U.S, patent 334,078 titled “Early Air Conditioning Unit Apparatus for cooling and disinfecting”, issued on December 12, 1886. This early A/C method used the cooling effects of evaporation from a “webbing of any suitable textile fabric” that was stretched between a reservoir and a drip pan and saturated with water. Twenty years later, Willis Carrier certainly used some of Latimer’s knowledge when he obtained the U.S. Patent 808,897 for an “Apparatus for Treating Air.” With that patent Carrier was credited with inventing the world’s first spray-type a/c equipment, able to both “wash” and humidify or dehumidify air. Latimer reMained a forgotten inventor, but all of us owe the inventions of light bulbs, telephones, and Heating plus Air Conditioning units to his contributions.

Cutting the Rug

I am a fine singer plus often get applause at karaoke events when I belt out a single of our beloved 1960s hits… Unfortunately, our talents do not extend to our legs, so I watch in envy seasoned motion pictures with Ginger Rogers plus Fred Astaire plus videos of the more new Savion Glover perform her tap-dancing magic.

Dancing is much more dangerous than singing simply because you can lose your footing plus take an embarrassing tumble plus sprain an ankle.

The last thing a dance studio needs is for someone appreciate me, with “two left feet”, to fall on a slippery floor. That is why it is so pressing that the air quality at professional dance studios be kept at a temperature plus humidity so that no condensate can form to make the floor slippery. There are no regulations that dictate what conditions a dance studio needs to be however keeping the room between 65°F plus 68°F is accepted as the optimal range. The warmer temperatures will boost the dancer’s core temperature plus is better for preventing joint destruction plus muscle strains. The several Heating as well as A/C occasions for dance studios are the traditional forced-air plan or a mini-split, both official types of Heating as well as A/C units. The annual service costs are about the same, however budget-minded dance studio owners will appreciate the mini-cut plan due to its lower replacement cost. The other large advantage of a mini-cut Heating as well as A/C plan is that it can be installed with a heat pump. Dance studios get tied up for the holidays plus the big spacious rooms can be hard to hot in the winter. The heat pump will reduce the need for space gas heating systems that dancers appreciate me are prone to stumble over while attempting a daring Argentine Tango move.

The heating system decided to fail in our home

I’m sure you know the saying, “When it rains it pours.” Well, I had a situation like that where it was definitely pouring.

We had the heating system in our home fail.

I had to call for emergency repairs, but the HVAC workers were too busy to complete the work on the HVAC system. Instead, they brought in space heaters to work in the home so the pipes didn’t freeze and we had to get into a hotel because the house was way too cold to be comfortable in while we were waiting for the heating system to be fixed. Well, while we were in the hotel, the hotel caught on fire! Everybody had to be evacuated and a lot of people were in their pajamas including us. It was absolutely freezing outside and it was such a lousy experience. Fortunately, the fire department was able to get the fire out in the hotel, but we couldn’t stay there for the night. So here in the midst of the night, we had to get all our things and drive to another hotel! It was entirely ridiculous and it took forever to get to sleep, but at least the temperature control settings were nice in our new hotel room. We stayed in that hotel for a few days before the HVAC professionals were able to get our heating system working again. The hotel stay was really expensive and the HVAC repairs were also very costly. By the end of all of that, I was entirely broke, but at least we were able to make it through the rest of the winter with a properly working heating system.

The community fundraiser was a complete success

When I started getting more involved in the community, I was asked to help host a fundraiser to help fund landscaping projects all around.

I ended up securing the perfect venue that had an awesome HVAC system and a fancy air purification system.

This provided excellent air quality in the building and everybody who came out to our event was comfortable with our ideal temperature control settings. We decided to have a dinner fundraiser where the patrons bought their plates for as much as $1000 per plate for the heavy spenders. Then we did an auction during the dinner for various items and we had some real big spenders for that event. People said it was a good idea to do the auction as it was my idea after all. We were able to get way past our goal to raise $100,000 and we have been putting the money to use making the community look way more beautiful. I must say, the landscaping contractors we have hired for numerous projects look wonderful. We’re going to keep working on these projects until the whole region looks amazing and if we run out of funds, we can always do another fundraiser. I will definitely make sure the climate control system is on point again, because I think that’s what made our fundraiser such an overwhelming success. I never really would have guessed that getting involved in the community like this would be so exciting and so rewarding at the same time. I don’t even make any money to do this type of work, yet I have a lot of respect in the community now.
