Everybody knew when Grandpa had some special locale to go.

  • He would go to the barber shop plus come back aromaing care about bay rum.

He would laugh plus nuzzle Grandmother’s neck plus she would smile. He said a close shave always made her ecstatic. I was too young to understand what he was saying, even though I remember Grandmother’s smile when he nuzzled her neck. After Grandmother passed away, Grandpa didn’t go to the barber shop. He said there was no need for a haircut plus a close shave. There wasn’t anyone to care about it. Then after about two years after Grandmother died, Grandpa came to the home aromaing care about bay rum. He looked ecstatic plus not so sleepy. He told myself and others he was going to transfer into the retirement community. He had already sold his home plus had paid for a new house right ‘in the thick of it’. He had heard the girls were as aged as he was, plus no 1 wanted a relationship. He just wanted people his own age to talk to you. I asked him why he got the haircut plus a close shave. He winked plus told myself and others that if I didn’t understand by now, I never would. Grandpa never forgot about Grandmother, however thanks to his close shaves, he had a lot of corporation. Last week, he showed up at mom’s home plus called a huge family meeting. I could aroma the bay rum when he walked into the house. He had his close shave plus a fresh haircut. He said he was going on a cruise for two weeks. He opened the door plus let a lady into the house. He told us she was going to be his sailing mate.

My attempts at dieting failed multiple times until I got a training nutritional coach

I know, I know, I would say to our friends, I will honestly stick to a diet this time! I have told my friends several times that I will legitimately start dieting and not stop, but every time without fail, that basket of snacks would win over my attention once again.

I mean come on, if you have the choice, what sounds better, a pizza or a stack of broccoli? Exactly.

I know one of my friends was tired of seeing me fail repeatedly, because he introduced someone to me who I later found out was a nutrition lifestyle coach! A nutrition training coach would be able to help me not only diet, but reach our nutritional needs and encourage me to have healthier habits, and choose healthier food. I wasn’t entirely keen on working with this person, but my buddy was insistent, and besides, he honestly brought up a good point, he even pointed out that I am even getting too lazy to go out and get food myself. I have lately been relying on local meal delivery to just bring the prepared meals to me. Speaking of meal prep, that is something that this training coach would teach, and giving me our own customized nutritional program and nutritional training plan. My favorite is prepared meal delivery services to our home, not all of this nutritional stuff. But, I decided to go ahead and at least supply it a try, my buddy even provided to pay for it if it meant helping me get back into shape.

I was looking for some nutritional counselling

I had been told by my doctor that if I didn’t lose some weight; I was looking at diabetes and heart disease in my future.

My parents both had diabetes, heat disease, and severe arthritis.

I didn’t want any of this. The doctor suggested I try nutritional counseling to get back into shape. When I went to the nutritional counselor, she was quick to ask questions. She was a skinny girl who looked like she was barely out of her teens. She also told me that it was difficult to lose weight when you were my age. She had me so upset that I walked out of there and I didn’t stop to make another appointment. My doctor called and asked how my appointment with the nutrition counselor went. I told him it upset me. She gave me a diet and insulted me. He was aghast and started asking what happened. He then gave me the number for a nutrition counsellor that lived in town. He told me to call her up and tell her he sent me. This sounded a bit clandestine, but if I wanted to lose weight, I needed to talk to someone. When I got to the office, a woman about my age greeted me, and she took me back to her office. It was nothing more than a kitchen with some charts on the walls. That first time, she had me helping her cook. She showed me different ways to cook food that made it healthier with less salt and fat and more nutrition. The nutrition counsellor worked with me for about two months and told me I was ready to graduate. I had already lost thirty pounds.

Getting a fitness trainer

My best friend Sarah struggled after she dropped out of college.

Her parents were extremely hard on her.

They pushed her to go back and get a degree. Sarah just wasn’t happy in the classroom. She is an active, physical type of person. She has always kept herself especially physically fit. She’s played nearly every type of sport. She’s competed in marathons and triathlons. I asked her what she was planning to do with her life, and she wanted to get into some type of fitness training. This goal actually led her back to taking classes. It was quite different from the college setting. Rather than sitting at a desk, reading books and taking exams, her training was much more hands-on. There was still some studying involved. It was an intense process that led to her earning her certification as a qualified trainer. The field is especially competitive. It took Sarah quite a long time to obtain enough clients to earn her living. At first, she was stuck working as a trainer at one of the big box gyms. She really hated the generic approach to the clients. The gym was way more concerned about signing up members than working with them. She saw a huge turnover of the clientele. Once she had some experience and a few clients, she struck out on her own. She rented a space and has done well. Sarah now has three other trainers that work with her. She’s busy and extremely happy.

I recently signed up with a dating website. I refused to buy a membership in order to access extra features. The free version was already more than enough to find dates. The site kept pestering me to upgrade and sign a long-term contract. I was content with a month to month deal. They were hoping I’d commit to 12 months at a time. I wasn’t planning to stay on the dating site for very long. I hoped to meet someone and be done with it. I was not looking to use the app for an entire year. They were so adamant about the year-long membership because that’s how they make the bulk of their profits. Dating websites aren’t the only areas where I get pressured to agree to an annual membership. Gyms and fitness centers are some of the worst. They encourage clients to sign up for long-term memberships. It’s not even allowed to utilize the facility unless you agree to a 12 month plan. I have tried to get out of a contract before it expires, and that was impossible. Once I put a stop to the automatic payments from my checking account, they turned me over to collections. I was extremely frustrated because I’d moved across the country. There was no way I could still utilize the membership. I had hopes of transferring the membership to my new location. However, they don’t have a gym in my area. I’d need to drive over an hour. I tried explaining all of this during the many phone calls and emails I’ve made to this company, but I’ve gotten nowhere. The membership dues have turned into a nightmare. I don’t want to simply pay them, but the debt is hurting my credit. Plus, I am reluctant to sign up at a new gym with those old fees hanging over my head.

Can't improve

A few years ago, I decided to improve my eating habits and start working out regularly. I was tired of being overweight and feeling tired and unhealthy. No matter what I tried, it seemed like I just couldn’t get in shape. I was determined to go on daily bike rides but ended up quitting after only a month. The weather was cold and rainy and my legs were horribly sore. When I purchased weight lifting equipment for my garage, I used it for a few weeks before I needed that space for the lawn mower. I have always had difficulty with dieting, no matter the type of approach I take. I nearly gave up with the plan of getting healthy and fit. Then a buddy of mine recommended I try out a health and fitness center. Since I live in a rather large city, the selection of gyms and fitness centers is quite extensive. After narrowing down a list of those with affordable membership fees, I finally chose a health and fitness center that is located right in the same complex where I work. This makes it super convenient to use the gym right after I am finished with work. This particular health and fitness center includes a yoga studio and they offer all levels of classes at various times of day. I signed up for yoga training early in the morning for four days per week. This means I’m going to be setting my alarm an hour earlier on those days. I think it will be a struggle but worthwhile. I just know the class will help to alleviate stress and get me energized for the workday. I expect to be more productive and suffer from fewer aches and pains throughout the day. If this class is as beneficial as I expect, I’m going to switch from working out in the evenings to exercising prior to starting the workday.

Planning to join the new gym when it opens

Ever since a developer began building new subdivisions in my area, there’s also been a surge in commercial business development.

I have watched several strip malls erected.

I’m excited by the new stores and restaurants that are opening up. Where we once had a single grocery store, I’m happy to have a second option for more selection. We’re getting another gas station, a hardware store and a few of the chain fast food restaurants as well. But the newest announcement for a grand opening has me especially excited. I’ve heard there’s going to be a gym included in the strip mall. They are already advertising yoga, spin, weight training and crossfit classes. There’s supposed to be nutritional counseling and personal training available. I’ve always wanted to join a gym and take group fitness classes. there was never a gym located anywhere near where I live. I have heard such good things about yoga and crossfit classes. I’ve always needed to handle my workouts at home. While I’ve invested in a treadmill, weight bench, free weights, jump rope and yoga mat, I am limited in what I can do. I like to go for a run or ride my bike, but the weather rarely cooperates. It will be really nice to have a temperature controlled environment and access to a wide array of equipment. I am looking forward to treadmills, stationary bikes, ellipticals and rowing machines. I assume they will have a selection of weight training machines and possibly an indoor track. Even if the membership fees are especially high, I plan to join the gym. The location is so convenient. I can stop there on my way to or from work. I can take a weekend class. Good workout habits

When I was a kid, I was especially small.

  • As a boy, this was difficult to deal with, especially when I was teased by bigger kids who were stronger than I was.

It didn’t matter how much food I ate. I couldn’t put on any weight. I burned off the calories immediately. My size led to insecurities. All throughout school, I was always the smallest kid in the class. Because of this, I got interested in lifting weights. I was hoping to build some muscle. For every birthday and Christmas, I asked my parents for workout gear. Along with a weight bench, dumbbells and free weights, I added resistance bands, a jump rope and medicine ball. I started running and realized that I was fast. I joined the track team and set records. I joined cross-country and won titles. I gradually started to gain confidence and not feel so self-conscious over my size. I was fit and strong. I finally grew when I was in my early twenties. I am no longer a little, short guy. However, I have continued my dedication to fitness. I still go for a run nearly every day. I regularly lift weights, ride my bike and keep active. I often compete in marathons throughout the country. While many of my peers have gained weight, slowed down and dealt with all sorts of health issues, I’ve remained healthy and strong. I haven’t slowed down in the slightest. I know this is because of my eating and workout habits.

Looking forward to getting back into the gym

When the pandemic became an issue, I switched to working remotely from home.

This limited my options for exercise.

Since most of the stores and businesses were shut down, I stayed home most of the time. I switched to ordering my groceries and essentials either online or for curbside pickup. Having no need to physically leave the house was a nice benefit. I love home delivery options, especially with local restaurants. Since I’ve had no chance to pursue my more physical hobbies, I’ve been more concerned about my physical and mental health. I need those pick-up basketball games for socialization. I use physical activity to alleviate stress. I’ve always maintained a membership at the local gym and used to attend at least four to five times per week. I often signed up for group fitness classes such as HIIT training and spin classes. I don’t really have sufficient space in my house to set up a bunch of bulky workout machines. Fortunately my gym started offering fitness classes that I can participate in virtually. It took some getting used to. I need to hold myself more accountable. I’ve gotten where I look forward to these interactions and manage to get a decent workout. My local area is finally loosening up the restrictions from covid. The gym is scheduled to open up at the beginning of next month. While I’ve appreciated and benefited from the virtual classes, I am excited to get back into a studio where I am face-to-face with a fitness instructor. I am anxious to have access to a wide range of fitness equipment again.
