I was definitely not a fan of the pandemic. It was so frustrating to have to work from home inside the air conditioning of my home. Added to that frustration was watching so many other completely disregard pandemic protocols designed to slow the spread. But I couldn’t control that so I just kept to myself in the heating and cooling comfort of my home. Yet, I did learn something from the pandemic. Being at home in the HVAC really slowed life down for me. I discovered that I spent far too much time prior to the pandemic just not paying attention. There was always just so much to do that I never really stopped and just looked around. When I was sticking to the house during the pandemic, I really started to pay attention to the things that I had taken for granted. One of those things was the HVAC equipment itself. I was right on time every month with the HVAC air filter change. And I even signed up for the HVAC service plan I had been meaning to join for some time. All of this also got me to pay attention to the HVAC itself. So I actually noticed one day when I heard the HVAC equipment making a faint but weird sound. I was on my way out of the HVAC to get my walk in when I heard it. The next day, I heard it too. That was all it took for me to place a call to the HVAC company. They sent out an HVAC technician who spotted the problem right away. The HVAC professional told me that I saved myself big time by noticing the problem with the HVAC early.

When I moved to this area some 25 years ago, there wasn’t much of a town to speak of. There was a grocery store that had a serious lack of air conditioning in the summer and not enough heating in the winter. And there were a few other shops on what would be considered the main street. Two and a half decades later, this place is nearly unrecognizable. This is due to the fact that our sleepy little village has turned into a bedroom community for the metro area an hour away. Lots of people have made a bundle off the town expanding. However there are others who are having to work harder than ever. When I moved here, there was only a couple of HVAC professionals in the area. The one I chose had just gone out on his own and was starting his HVAC company. There was something about that guy when he came out to give me a bid on new HVAC equipment. I liked his confidence, professionalism and expertise. The man had really taken his time with me as I tried to articulate the sort of quality heating and air that I was looking for. Not only did he listen, this HVAC professional executed an HVAC plan that is still running. Sure, I’ll have to replace the HVAC equipment in the coming years. And I could probably save some money by going with one of the national HVAC franchises that have moved in. But I’ll be sticking with my guy. Our local HVAC company has taken great care of me for the last 25 years. I’m happy to be loyal to them.

I replaced that electric heating system with a set of ductless heat pumps.

I’m really not so sure how the previous owners were able to keep warm through the winter. While our region isn’t near as tough with winter weather as our neighbors further north, it’s no day at the beach either. Many people rely on either a furnace or a heat pump in this area for heating. I just bought a home that had one owner and was built fifty years ago. The home is small, well built and will be perfect for my purposes. I like to find these types of home that need a bit of work. Once I get them in decent shape, I rent them out. This house was the right price and I lucked out that I was able to make a cash offer. The estate was selling it so they wanted something quick even if it wasn’t near the asking price. My first bit of work was aimed directly at the HVAC equipment. This house had been using an electric heating system. It’s a baseboard heater system that must have cost a fortune to run with less than stellar heating results. I noted there were other space heaters used as well. I can’t really imagine what it must have been like in that house when it was really cold outside. I replaced that electric heating system with a set of ductless heat pumps. These are state of the art HVAC technology. They are super efficient and they produce quality heating and air no problem. I’m sure this house will be far, far warmer and cheaper to heat than ever before.

I feel sort of bad for him.

But at the same time, this couldn’t be happening to a more deserving person. That’s terrible to say, I know. It’s just that this guy is just such an officious know it all that it’s fun to watch a bit of karma happen. He recently attempted some HVAC repairs on his HVAC equipment and that failed spectacularly. What happened was that he decided to diagnose and air conditioning problem on his own. Once he had his diagnosis in hand, he told anybody who would listen how he was beating the HVAC company. There was no way the HVAC professionals were going to take advantage of him with their high prices. He was also the same guy who told me over and over what a scam HVAC maintenance actually is. Of course, this didn’t deter me one second from continuing to be a member of our HVAC company’s HVAC service plan. So my neighbor attempts to fix the HVAC cooling without any training or expertise at all. He was just so sure that all it took was viewing a simple video online in order to take care of business. This was how real men approached things of course. He goes to the hardware store and buys a bunch of stuff to do what he thinks will fix the air conditioning. Turns out, he blew it and messed the machine up so bad that the HVAC equipment has to be replaced. What’s more, my working on the HVAC equipment himself, he voided the factory warranty and will have to pay for the entire thing out of pocket.

I could kick myself for a lot of the things that I do. However, abandoning the HVAC maintenance was one of my more stupid moves. A few years ago, I decided that I’d save the money on the HVAC service from the HVAC professional. I figured that since I had been so consistent with heating maintenance in the fall and an air conditioner tune-up in the spring, I’d be good for a while. How I came up with that twisted logic I’ll never fully understand. So of course, here we are enduring the mid-summer heat and the air conditioner breaks down. And this isn’t just a quick recharge or something like that. The HVAC equipment is damaged and there are parts that have to be replaced. Of course since it’s mid-summer, there is a great demand for HVAC service and parts. That means, I’m going to have to get accustomed to a hot house for a bit. The HVAC professional told me it could be a few weeks before they are able to repair the HVAC cooling. You can imagine the scene when I had to tell my wife and daughters that we’d be without air conditioning for that long. It did not go well. I bought a few window air conditioners to help but it’s far from sufficient. And of course, the HVAC technician told me that had I gotten the air conditioner tune-up, I would not be having this problem at all. While that wasn’t easy to hear. I did the smart thing right away and called the HVAC company. I’m now signed up for the HVAC service plan so this won’t happen again.

Okay so there wasn’t a time this past year when I had even the mildest of frigid or flu feelings that I didn’t almost freak out. That had a lot to do with a pandemic that was keeping myself and others inside the safety of our Heating, Ventilation, & A/C worked on home. There wasn’t a stray sneeze or a tickle in our throat that didn’t go unnoticed. Thankfully, I made it to the point where I could be vaccinated & worry a lot less. I’m just absolutely thankful I found the source of the near constant sniffles I had prior to a pandemic splitting out. Otherwise, I suppose I would have freaked out. Only a couple of years ago, our wife finally made myself and others go to the dentist after I had complained of respiratory symptoms for more than a month. It was by no means overwhelming even though I just felt bad & was always fighting sinus problems or other related symptoms. I figured I’d just get a prescription & that would be the end of it. What I got instead was a suggestion to call the Heating, Ventilation, & A/C corporation. My dentist thought our problems stemmed from disappointing indoor air conditions. And a ductwork cleaning might resolve the situation. I was a bit skeptical even though I did exactly as our dentist recommended. The Heating, Ventilation, & A/C professionals came out & did the ductwork cleaning followed by the ductwork sealing. It wasn’t however a morning or two later that all of those ongoing symptoms just went away. Thankfully, this happened before the pandemic. Having cleaner indoor air also helped our immune response strengthen as well. And it was a fine year to have a stronger immune method for sure.

Perhaps this is a sign of things to come or maybe it’s just another example of the desperation of some criminals. I very don’t know. But I’ve recently take steps to not be victimized by these very particular thieves. Still, I never thought I would have to lock down my Heating plus A/C equipment. That’s just 1 thing that very never occurred to me. I very don’t take my Heating plus A/C unit for granted. My spouse plus I spent a lot of currency on it plus both of us just love the heating plus cooling comfort it produces. The heat pump has 1 of the highest SEER ratings there are. This means it’s 1 of the most efficient pieces of Heating plus A/C technology made. So when I heard about thieves stealing from the Heating plus A/C cupboard I was sort of taken aback. But when I l gained that these thieves were not even stealing the costly Heating plus A/C technology contained in the Heating plus A/C cabinets, I was shocked. Shocked went to stunned once I found out that these criminals very destroy the Heating plus A/C cupboard plus the components to get to copper. And I’m not talking about a motherlode of copper by any stretch of the imagination. So they bypass all this very costly stuff. But it’s not prefer their exactly surgical about it. This is the Heating plus A/C version of a smash plus grab robbery. ThoUnited Statesnd of dollars of Heating plus A/C technology is simply torn out, ruined plus left in the yard. What a waste. And these people are getting just pennies on the dollar for their efforts. That’s why I now have a cage that fits over the Heating plus A/C cupboard plus locks down to the concrete pad it sits on. Wow.

I spent a decade or more sort of planning our transfer to the south.

I moved to section time work about many years ago.

This gave me plenty of time to scheme while the gas furnace was blasting away. Our entire adult life had been spent with the gas furnace blasting away for at least six months or more. Sure, that region has a pretty Spring and a fairly comfortable summer. But as the fall colors are starting to be a section of our focus, the gas furnace is kicking on again. My idea was to ditch the Heating and A/C heating and head south to the sunshine. Yet, it took some work to get our husband on board as he’s sort of loathe to change. However, I kept chipping away and both of us finally found the spot where both of us would trade our gas furnace for a whole bunch of Heating and A/C cooling. It was only a few years later that both of us bought a arena. I even coordinated getting the Heating and A/C component and the kitchen on our seasoned home upgraded so both of us got a fabulous price for our family home. With some of those profits, I had a sunroom added to back of the house. This was the crowning jewel of our decade worth of planning, cajoling and executing a plan. But what I didn’t realize that first year was the summer time heat and humidity made the sunroom virtually unUnited Statesble. However, a quick call to the Heating and A/C company changed all of that. They installed a ductless heat pump inside the sunroom. That was all it took. The ductless heat pump makes for such appealing Heating and A/C cooling that I can get air conditioning system and sun at once.

Perhaps had I certainly study the Heating and Air Conditioning warranty, I wouldn’t be in the position I’m in now. No, when the Heating and Air Conditioning supplier installed the new Heating and Air Conditioning device 7 years ago, I was too enthusiastic about the superb heating and cooling to worry about a warranty. Thankfully, my wifey listened to the Heating and Air Conditioning supplier and she at least got the Heating and Air Conditioning warranty registered with the factory. There was only a 90 afternoon window to do so. Had that been up to me, I would have voided the Heating and Air Conditioning warranty right then. But, it would take seven more years before I did that. And again, all it would have taken would have been a quick skim over the warranty to understand the conditions. Instead, I was ecstatic about the new Heating and Air Conditioning device and eventually just sort forgot about all of that stuff. So when I came home a single afternoon to find the air conditioner running however certainly little cool air coming out, I thought I might be able to do something about it. That was my important mistake. Had I bothered to study the Heating and Air Conditioning warranty, I would have known that only licensed, certified Heating and Air Conditioning professionals were allowed to work on the Heating and Air Conditioning unit. But that didn’t happen so I ended up blundering around as though I had some sort on intuitive Heating and Air Conditioning service training. The fact is, I can’t even change my own oil in the car. Why I figured I could repair a complicated piece of Heating and Air Conditioning technology is beyond me still. When the Heating and Air Conditioning supplier finally came out and saw what I had done, they informed me of the bad news. I had caused thoUSnds of dollars of damage to the Heating and Air Conditioning device and in the process, I voided the warranty on the Heating and Air Conditioning equipment.
