When you live far out in a rural area like me, it can be hard to get a heating and AC technician out to service your heating and cooling unit. I do not like having to rely on other people for the things I need in life and so as soon as I had the available funds I set off to make myself self-reliant and in as many ways as possible. I now grow my own food, raise my own livestock, provide my own water, and even provide my own electricity but there is one thing that I cannot do. I cannot repair my own heating and AC unit. I do not have a central heating and cooling system because of how I live. Instead I just have a portable ductless mini split AC and a space heater. Well like with anything, eventually something is going to break and that is what happened with my space heater. I had no idea how to fix it, as after all I am not a professional HVAC technician. So I tried to get a heating and AC company to come out and service it but I figured it was unlikely because of how far out I was and I was correct. I wasn’t even able to get a mobile HVAC company to come out to where I live for the same reason. Plus my place is so far out that it is off the main roads, in order to find that you have to find a tiny dirt road that runs in between a few trees. It’s hard to spot if you don’t know the area so they probably get lost looking for me anyways. I wasn’t too happy about it but I had no choice but to take it into town. But I’m looking into a solution for that, I’m currently learning the trade of being a heating and AC specialist. This way when it breaks next time I can fix it myself.
The ultimate solution
I compared prices with the heating and air conditioning company and although this whole mini project for the ductless mini split air conditioning system will cost a few thousand dollars all together, it is still cheaper than having construction done on new ductwork.
I just had my basement converted into a nice sized game room for my kids. It is really big and nicely done. The only problem is that there is no central heating or air conditioning down there. Our central heating and air conditioning system runs through our house but not the basement. There is just no ductwork down there. Rather than do all this construction to have the ductwork laid to add the central heating and air conditioning system, there was another simpler and more cheaper solution. That was to buy a ductless mini split air conditioning system, call the local heat and a/c company, then have them send out a certified heating and cooling specialist to convert the ductless mini split air conditioning system into a fully working ductless mini split heating and cooling unit. This may sound like it would all be more pricey than having additional ductwork laid, but in reality it is not. I compared prices with the heating and air conditioning company and although this whole mini project for the ductless mini split air conditioning system will cost a few thousand dollars all together, it is still cheaper than having construction done on new ductwork. Not to mention, it is also a lot less messy. Having ductwork laid would completely ruin the nice job that was done on the basement to make it a finished game room. So the ductless mini split was the ultimate solution for the heating and air conditioning needed down there. It will be all good.
A good surprise
When I went to check my mail the other day I was quite shocked at what I found waiting for me. I get a lot of junk mail, and this nearly looked like one of those. However, I decided to open it and found that it was a voucher to get 50 percent off of an electric fireplace at this new outlet store that just opened up! I was very happy and surprised at this kind of a discount on an electric fireplace. And just by coincidence, I have been wanting to get an electric fireplace, but have not been able to afford it. But now with this 50 percent off voucher for an electric fireplace I can very well afford it! The voucher is good for one month. So one of these weekends in the next few weeks I will need to go and visit the new outlet store here in town and buy my electric fireplace for 50 percent off the regular price. I already know exactly where I will put the electric fireplace in my living room as well. It is going to be so nice! It is just a shame that this voucher could not have come a month and a half ago or so, because I would have had the electric fireplace for the holidays. It’s ok though, next year I can have my electric fireplace for the holidays and decorate it very nicely and make my home enhanced in that Christmas spirit. A year is a long time to wait for that again, but still, it will be nice when the time finally arrives once again.

I have to say that I am amazed and very pleased with my programmable smart thermostat.
During the summer time months of the year it comes in real handy when I program the central air conditioning system to come on and shut off at the same times every single day.
I have it programmed to shut off around the time I am out the door for work in the mornings during the weekdays. Then in late afternoon about a half an hour before I come home, the programmable smart thermostat turns on the central air conditioning system so it is nice and cool by the time I walk in the door. This is done to save money on energy use. I am the only one who lives in my home, so having the central heating and air conditioning system unit running when I am not home is a complete waste of energy and causes my electric bills to be much higher than they have to be. Without a programmable smart thermostat, I would not be able to have such control over my central heating and air conditioning system unit. Some people completely down the idea of the smart thermostat because it is ran by a computer. Yes there may be some issues sometimes. But it is all worth it because of what a miracle it causes in saving energy and controlling my central heating and air conditioning system unit. I would not have it any other way in the world.
Emergency Heat
Even with your thickest sweater on, does your home feel colder than usual? If so, check your thermostat.
If the temperature is significantly lower than it should be, it might be time to turn on your emergency heat.
What does emergency heat do? When the outside temperature is too cold for your heat pump to keep your home warm, emergency heat is the best option. When the heat pump freezes over or becomes damaged, you should switch to emergency heat and contact an HVAC company. Heat pumps heat your home by pulling in heat from the outdoors, but they can also cool your house by releasing heat outside. Neither heat nor cold air can be generated by heat pumps. They transfer heat and cold from one place to another. To create a comfortable home temperature, heat pumps use electricity and refrigerant. The refrigerant transports heat from an indoor unit to a heat pump’s compressor. If you live in an area with milder temperatures, heat pumps are great for saving money and energy. When temperatures drop too low and emergency heat is required, you should always have a backup heating source. During cold weather, your heat pump can’t pull enough warmth from the outdoor air to heat your home. You can keep warm by using a secondary heating source, such as emergency heat. The heat pump emergency heat setting is used when the heat pump needs to take a break to prevent system damage. Furthermore, it works well to heat your home in below-freezing temperatures. The “em heat” setting on your thermostat indicates that your emergency heat is on. This mode will remain on until you turn it off manually. When your system’s emergency heat is turned on, your compressor and heat pump automatically shut off, and your electric heat strips come on. As a result, you get heat without damaging your outdoor heat pump. Emergency heat is usually electric, but it can also run on gas or oil. When you manually turn on the emergency heat on your thermostat, the system bypasses the heat pump and directly accesses the electric heat strip or the gas or oil furnace. In electric systems, your air handler becomes an electric furnace. Call your local HVAC service provider if the temperature outside reaches 40 degrees or above and your home still cannot stay warm without emergency heat. There may be a problem with your heat pump.
My niece and nephew fell asleep on the heated floors
When my brother made plans to go enjoy a weekend away with his wife, he asked if I could take care of his children.
He said he didn’t trust just anybody taking care of his children, and we were family so I should be there for him.
My brother has helped me out plenty of times in the past, so honestly couldn’t tell him no. Anyway, I care a lot about my niece and nephew so I didn’t have an issue spending a weekend with them. I decided to take them out to a buffet where there was delicious food. I was impressed because they had healthy appetites and didn’t fill their plates with junk. They actually ate good food and they balanced their protein, carbs, and fat appropriately which was impressive. When I asked them if they wanted dessert, they looked mischievous and said their parents usually didn’t let them eat sweets. I told them it would be fine just this one time. It was a nice buffet too, they had a UV air purification system so the air quality was nice. Also, those people knew how to set the ideal temperature control settings because I’ve never felt uncomfortable in the building. When we relaxed back at home, it was kind of chilly in the house, so I turned on the heating system. The children were surprised when heating came from the floors. My nephew exclaimed, “You have radiant heated floors!” Of course I did, but I didn’t think they would make such a big deal of it. When it was time for them to go to bed, they didn’t even make it to the guest bedrooms, they were both curled up on the floor with pillows and blankets, and they appeared to be so cozy, so I let them sleep like that.
I never really planned on getting smart devices in my house
I honestly never understood all the fuss about smart technology until a friend showed me how to use a smart thermostat.
He had other smart things in his home too like a smart refrigerator and smart curtains that worked with his thermostat.
He said he had his curtains set to close as soon as the sun started shining at that side of the house. He said the energy savings with things as simple as this were fantastic. I had looked into energy saving tips before, but I had to admit, he had some of the best energy saving tips around. He’s the one who told me that I would save as much as 15% on my energy bills just by upgrading to a thermostat. As soon as I knew about that, I realized that it would be foolish for me to keep on using my old dial thermostat when I could be saving a lot of money. He wasn’t lying either, I started saving a large amount on the energy bills when I finally had a professional come out to my home to install a smart thermostat. I also had the ductwork cleaning done at that time and I had a UV air purification system installed because I wanted to have better air quality with less chances of becoming sick in my home. I don’t think I need something so fancy as a smart refrigerator, but I have considered getting one of those Alexa devices. It would be cool to be able to adjust the temperature control settings by simply voicing commands, and I heard that Alexa devices can work with your smart thermostat to do that. So that will probably be the next smart device I go for in my home.
My good friend turned into my wife and we’re still best buddies
It was a few years ago when a good friend of mine invited me to go workout with her.
She taught me how to use all the exercise equipment that I was unfamiliar with.
She even helped me to figure out a nutrition plan so I was eating healthier. This is all something that I could have never done on my own, but I started feeling more energy and better about my life. Eventually, I realized I was falling for my friend and asked her out on a date. She seemed surprised and then let me know that she already had a boyfriend. Well, I must have been something special to her because she ended up dumping her boyfriend and dating me. It was something that I would have never expected, but she told me how her boyfriend was boring and dull. He would never take her out places and he wouldn’t even workout the way she did; he was just too lazy. Well, I started taking her out to all sorts of nice places. We have this particular restaurant that we really enjoy where we always try to get a seat in one of the booth seats near the fireplace. We even went on a ton of road trips together which was exciting for us. Eventually we decided to get married and we had the best wedding ever, at least better than I ever thought I deserved in life. She has been the light of my life and now we have a couple of children together. These days, I’m mostly thinking about how I can make my family safe and healthy. This is why I had a UV air purification system installed in our home and I regularly have the HVAC system maintained and the ductwork cleaning done.
My brother should have made investments with such a good career
My brother always acted like he was a total big shot ever since he graduated from college.
He was able to get a respectable career going, but he still spent more money than what he was making.
He didn’t make good investments like getting his own house or anything. He rented everything, and he had a lease for his different cars that he felt like driving. He drove fancy cars, but of course he had to take good care of them less he paid for the damages through his insurance. While he had his big and fancy career going on, I decided to become an HVAC professional. I didn’t want to waste any time studying about things I had no interest in, I wanted to focus solely on the work of learning about heating and cooling systems. I did alright starting as an HVAC professional. When I became settled in my work, I decided to buy a reliable car first. Then I bought a new home that wasn’t anything particularly special. Still, it needed a lot of work and I renovated the place pretty well. I eventually decided to install a boiler system and I hooked up radiant heated floors. My family couldn’t believe it when I told them about my radiant heated floors and suddenly, my home became the popular hangout in my family. It didn’t matter that my brother had a bigger house, he didn’t have a fireplace or radiant heated floors like I did. Also, I knew he couldn’t afford to get something like that, and not to mention, he didn’t own his house. He seems really jealous these days, but serves him right for always acting so arrogant.

I never really like going to family dinners to be honest. Everybody always wants to talk trash about something or complain about things going on in life. I probably shouldn’t have said anything, but my mother asked if there was anything new going on with me. I ended up saying how I was planning on having radiant heated floors installed in my house. My father asked if I was just going to install radiant heated floors in the bathrooms or my whole house. He mentioned that I had a pretty good sized house and it would cost a small fortune to install heated floors throughout the place. I had to admit that at first I wanted to do the bathrooms only, but I figured I should just go for the whole installation, and it would also increase the value of my property naturally. Some of my family members were laughing saying that I would never be able to afford radiant heated floors in my home. One cousin said I would probably have a better chance of having such a costly installation if I became an HVAC professional and installed them on my own. By the end of the evening, everybody was calling me the HVAC professionals, except for my parents. At least my parents had faith that I could do anything I put my mind too. Regardless, I still ended up saving enough money to have the HVAC professionals take care of the installation. Now everybody who was talking trash about me getting radiant heated floors wants to come hang out at my place all the time because the heating system is so comfortable.
