Identifying drafts will save you money on HVAC heating costs

It has been one rude awakening after another.

This is my first time living anywhere but the southern US.

And, it’s also the first time I have gotten a big promotion that came with a move to a northern city. On top of all of that, it’s the first time I have ever owned a house. That’s a lot to take on but I fearlessly jumped in head first. Now, I have to just keep swimming or I’ll simply sink. While this is all really exciting, I know that I bit off more than I could chew to quote my dear old dad. For one thing, I was so not prepared for how tough the winter really is. Thankfully, the new job came with a nice raise because I have a feeling I will be spending it on HVAC heating. I simply can’t really ever stay warm enough. Even at the office I have to have a space heater under my desk. A lot of my new colleagues give me grief because I am always looking to turn up the HVAC setting. Actually, one of those colleagues really helped me out when it comes to the HVAC. I was complaining how my house never felt warm and cozy no matter how much I cranked the HVAC heating. He was kind enough to come over and help me seal up the house in order to keep more of the HVAC treated air on the inside. While we were doing this, he also discovered the source of a massive draft. One of the windows was not properly insulated. I was able to have a company come out and take care of that. Now the house is much more warm and I’m getting more accustomed to this sort of weather.
