I was finishing counting the money in the register when I saw Brooke.
I had finished preparing our orders for the evening.
Brooke is my best friend and biz partner, but we are opposites. Brooke would not know what to do with an oven, even with the most idiot proof recipe. On the other hand, I love baking so much that I turned it into a career. It’s a good thing Brooke takes care of just about everything except for the baking itself, so she is a good partner. Let me explain how she can be quirky though. There was a time she moved into my apartment because she claimed there was a rat in her air conditioner unit. Even after the a/c rep assured her that she had no vermin up there, and it was a mechanical issue making that strange noise, she was not pleased. Brooke went ahead and called a different a/c business. She actually wanted a second opinion on the matter! As I suspected, the second HVAC technician told her much the same as the first: there was no evil little rat, only a mechanical issue with her a/c. The whole time I was trying so hard to stifle a burst of laughter. In the end, the second HVAC specialist was able to fix the mechanical issue and teach Brooke a lot more about her HVAC system and all the various noises that it can make when it is not in good condition. Some years back, when she was looking for the best cooling equipment for her home, she decided that she wanted me to help her pick the right air conditioner for her home, because she was very indecisive. The two of us eventually sought the help of an a/c expert, And I really hope she has learned to trust them!
