My son wanted to bake a birthday cake for his grandfather.
John has consistently loved everything to do with pastries.
An incident occurred when he iced the cake, and there was pretty much no room in the fridge to place it. He opted to leave the cake in the bedroom and set the temperature to 60. Our ductless mini-split a/c was a zoned system, so it was possible to change only a single one of the rooms. It was also on the upper floor, which we don’t frequently visit. With the haste of leaving the apartment for a delivery, he turned up instead of turned down the temperature. My son and I spent no more than twenty minutes on the delivery, since it was in the area. But when we returned, he saw the cake frosting looking all melted and he almost cried. I said we could fix the cake. He suggested we call a cooling specialist to fix whatever was wrong with the a/c idea because he thought it was faulty. After a close inspection of the control unit, I assured him that there would be no need for major repairs. The incident served as a reminder that it was actually time for an a/c tune-up. I called an HVAC technician and scheduled an appointment for Friday. My son is still worried that there’s something seriously wrong with the HVAC system, but I suggested that perhaps he had accidentally set the temperature way too high. He thought back and realized he had not been paying much attention and that was probably what happened.
