Personal training was important to me.

It was important to me to become his personal trainer.

I knew what he was going through.

Right after my divorce, the only thing that was using my broken heart was food. Instead of crying, I would reach out for anything sweet salty. A fresh apple no longer did it. I needed chocolate or some other sweet and creamy dessert. I learned how to cook desserts, just so I could eat them. Before I knew it, I had gained over 40 pounds, and I was looking old. I had been a personal trainer for most of my life, and suddenly I looked like the people who were coming to me for help. I couldn’t bear to look at myself in the mirror, and yet I couldn’t give up eating. Eating was becoming a habit that was very difficult to shake. I walked into the gym one afternoon, and my best friends confronted me. He told me I was no longer in shape to be a personal trainer and I had to lose weight. He put me on a regimen of exercise and diet, and stayed at my house for three weeks. It took him nearly a month before we saw the beginning of any change. I could finally exercise without wheezing and coughing.Within two months, I was down over 30 pounds and looking almost as good as I did before my divorce. I swore I would never go back to the old habits that got me into personal training‌. Whenever I see someone, like my newest client, come in and request me as a personal trainer, I know this is because they trust me because I have been where they are now.
