I was visiting with my mom on Wednesday and the two of us were sitting in the living room discussing some shows that the two of us saw on television the previous day.
It was kind of warm outside and the air conditioner in the living room was running. My mom and dad do not have central air conditioning, because it’s not really necessary. They live on a hill where there is a constant breeze and they live in a climate where summertime temperatures are never higher than 90 degrees. The living room air conditioner was running simply because I was feeling warm. I started talking to my mom about the television show that I saw on the previous night and I heard the air conditioner make a strain, hiccup sound. I told my mom that the air conditioner made a weird sound and she told me that everything was perfectly fine. I forgot about the hiccup sound until 15 minutes later when the air conditioner started blowing warm air. I told my mom that I knew I heard a sound. She turned off the air conditioner and told my dad to come upstairs. He was downstairs working on some problem in the basement. My dad grabbed his tools and took the front of the air conditioner off. He started moving some things around and he found two electrical switches in the back of the machine. He crossed the wires and there was a small electrical spark. Two or three minutes later, the air started to get cooler. I don’t know what my dad did to the machine, but it’s probably a fire hazard.
