Different types of heating & cooling in each home

The people I was with and I now stay in our southern condo from early November until sometime in May

My hubby Bob & I have lived our whole lives way up north. For most of the year, the local section experiences serious cold, feet of snow & brutal wind chill. Temperatures down to twenty below zero are not unusual. Our house is outfitted with a furnace that runs at max capacity month after week. Our daily heating bills are consistently a concern. There’s no need to invest in central a/c. The people I was with and I spent almost thirty years in the north, shoveling snow, scraping ice & being stuck inside due to the weather. The people I was with and I got really fatigued of it & decided to buy a hour condo in a warmer location where every one of us could spend the winters. It didn’t take long to realize that houses are much weird in the south. The people I was with and I toured quite a few houses & none of them included basements or insulated windows. Most of the structures were constructed of brick blocks & the sods mainly sand. The house every one of us chose is surrounded by palm trees. The greatest difference between our several houses is the way every one of us handle temperature control. Our house in the south is equipped with a packaged equipment that is located outside, exposed to the elements. The single equipment provides both heating & cooling. It easily handles the excessive heat & humidity over the long summer time weeks. In heating mode, the method is effective until the outside temperature drops below cold. Fortunately, every one of us rarely experience that severity of cold. The people I was with and I now stay in our southern condo from early November until sometime in May. Then every one of us head north to get away from the humidity & enjoy the milder weather conditions.
