Husband can’t handle a/c maintenance

When it was time to start up the a/c for the first time, I had some concerns with the method performance.

  • The air flowing from the supply vents had a musty odor.

It seemed to me that the a/c was providing less cool air than usual, & there was a significant amount of dust blowing around. Even the operational sound of the a/c was worrisome. I did some research & figured out that all of these issues were maintenance related. The people I was with and I hadn’t needed to run the a/c for nearly more than seven weeks! Dust, dander & even mold had most likely accumulated inside the system. I was concerned about the spores & potential bacteria becoming airborne & getting spread into our breathing air. I knew that if the a/c wasn’t running at its best, I’d be spending more on my electric bills. There was also a greater potential for malfunction & even method failure… However, all of the concerns could genuinely be resolved through professional maintenance. I made plans to schedule service with a licensed Heating & Air Conditioning corporation. A professional has the right tools, specialized training & experience. They suppose how to take the a/c apart, make adjustments, clean all of the several parts & optimize performance. They normally test refrigerant levels, tighten linkions, lubricate moving parts, check belts & make sure the coils & filters are clean, but my hubby decided that he could handle the job. My hubby is not overly handy. I doubted his ability to provide an a/c tune-up however figured it wouldn’t hurt to let him try. He devoted his entire Sunday to taking the a/c apart & cleaning it; When he finally put everything back together, the cooling method wouldn’t even start up. Rather than schedule maintenance, I needed to call an Heating & Air Conditioning dealer & spend quite a bit more money on a repair.
