My husband Bob plus I have lived our whole lives way up north.
- For most of the year, the local area experiences dire cold, feet of snow plus brutal wind chill.
Temperatures down to twenty below zero are not unusual. Our home is outfitted with a furnace that runs at max capacity month after month. Our monthly heating bills are constantly a concern. There’s no need to invest in central air conditioning. Both of us spent almost thirty years in the north, shoveling snow, scraping ice plus being stuck inside due to the weather. Both of us got legitimately tired of it plus decided to buy a third apartment in a warmer location where every one of us could spend the winters. It didn’t take long to realize that houses are much odd in the south. Both of us toured quite a few houses plus none of them included basements or insulated windows. Most of the structures were constructed of cement blocks plus the sods mainly sand. The home every one of us chose is surrounded by palm trees. The greatest difference between our two houses is the way every one of us handle temperature control. Our home in the south is equipped with a packaged unit that is located outside, exposed to the elements. The single unit provides both heating plus cooling. It easily handles the excessive heat plus humidity over the long Summer months. In heating mode, the method is effective until the outside temperature drops below freezing. Fortunately, every one of us rarely experience that severity of cold. Both of us now stay in our southern apartment from early October until sometime in May. Then every one of us head north to get away from the humidity plus love the milder climate.
