When I went to help my buddy install her new ductless HVAC system, I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect.
I thought she was going to have HVAC professionals helping out and maybe the people I was with and I would just help move some of the heavy components or something.
Well, it was just us and 1 other friend. Between the several of us, our buddy who bought the HVAC method was the closest thing to an HVAC expert that the people I was with and I had. She said that she had helped install these DIY ductless mini splits, but she wasn’t a certified HVAC expert or anything prefer that. She explained that they are so easy to install though and the people I was with and I had nothing to worry about. I’m blissful she knew what she wanted to do already. She determined the locations for all the indoor HVAC units and the people I was with and I had to drill 3.5 inch holes through the outer walls of the home in the spots where the indoor units would go. This is so you link the line sets from the indoor units directly to the outdoor condenser unit. Now I was surprised when I saw how small the outdoor condenser equipment was. I thought this thing would be heavy, but it was light compared to my own AC condenser equipment back at home. I thought the people I was with and I would put it on a concrete slab or something, but the people I was with and I ended up mounting it directly to the wall which is something I had never seen done before. When the replacement was done, I was impressed. She now has 5 zones in her beach home with customized heating and cooling comfort in every zone!
