I actually remember spending time with our mother when my brother and I were young.
We learned that our father died from cancer, and that was a serious tragic event.
He had a life insurance plan and our mother took care of us with that money for a little while as she worked different part time jobs. Unfortunately, the rent was expensive, so it was difficult to afford to put food on the table. Eventually our mother became sick and she passed away. Because we had no other family to go to, we were put into an orphanage. It was tough for us at first but fortunately, we made friends with most of the kids in no time, and they became like a new family to us during that time. We never were adopted and I had to be on my way as soon as I turned 18. My brother was a year younger than me, and I told him that I would be there to get him when he got out too. Fortunately when I was on my own, I worked hard and eventually made enough money to attend a trade school. I became a certified HVAC expert and I worked hard to save money. I ended up getting a nice apartment by the time my brother was out of the orphanage and I was there for him the day he turned 18 and we celebrated his birthday! He said it was the best birthday he ever had, and I was able to get him into the same trade school I went to so he could join me working in the HVAC industry.
