People talk about how you can save money on your energy bills by using a portable air conditioning system in the summer instead of your central air conditioning. Well that may work for some, but where I live in the south it does not! There is no other way to keep cool in the super hot summer months other than the central air conditioning system cranked. I have tried the portable air conditioning method to try to save money and it does little to no good. The heat is so bad that you need the central air conditioning system to fight it off. In the winter when it gets cold I can say that a portable space heater works with this method. But in the summer with the portable air conditioning system, forget it! You have no choice but to pay the high electric bills and crank the central air conditioning system. I really wish that the portable air conditioning system method worked because I really get tired of paying the high electric bills every single year. Here in the south the heat actually last longer than just the summer and sometimes starts earlier. For instance, I can tell you that in early February I am having to crank the central air conditioning system for a week here and a week there. Then it would be back to the central heating and portable space heater the following week. That is how crazy it gets over here with the weather. But regardless, I always keep my central heating and air conditioning system maintained because of it all. It helps to keep the air conditioning working good.
