In the past I only rented apartments and used window A/C units. I never actually had a central HVAC system before. Well, the HVAC professional who came out taught us a lot about taking care of the HVAC system. Something that I never would have realized was that you need to cover your outdoor A/C condenser unit in the winter season. You don’t want snow getting inside or icicles slamming into the unit to cause damage. The HVAC professional was telling me how it’s very costly to have to replace the A/C condenser unit, so you have to take great care of it until the whole HVAC system eventually needs to be replaced. He said our system had a good amount of time left on it and he was definitely right about that. We went for about 8 years with that HVAC system providing us perfect comfort through the heating and cooling seasons. The energy bills were never too bad and I was so glad that I never had to worry about setting up the window A/C units every single summer season. We have been on an HVAC service plan all this time as well, so we have saved so much money on HVAC service and care. Eventually, the HVAC professional told us to save up for a new HVAC when ours was nearing its end. We ended up getting a ductless mini split installed and we really love it.
