How to know you are dealing with a legit HVAC professional

Everyone who has a heating and cooling unit has had an encounter with a fake serviceman. Just last week, my parents had an encounter with a shady expert who tried to dupe them into having another unnecessary HVAC installation before they realized that the HVAC tech was not legitimate. I remember a few months back, I was having issues with the air purifier in the house. It was making weird noises and not properly functioning. I contacted an expert who would come to check on the issue. I had an HVAC zone control unit already installed at the house and it was also showing signs of issues. I contacted the HVAC provider to send in one of the HVAC professionals to check on the units. When he got to my premise, the expert first showed me his identification details so I could confirm he was really from the homeowner solutions organization. He then proceeded to gather his tools and check on the air quality systems. He started working on the HVAC ducts, cleaning them, and removing all the debris and dirt. The air duct cleaning process took a long time, and from time to time, he would explain what he was doing to me just to keep me updated. When he was done, he allowed me to inspect the air purification system and I also noticed that the air quality had significantly improved. Even the temperature control device was working well now. After all this, the expert went ahead to advise on the importance of cleaning the vents. When I was completely satisfied with the work, he asked that I sign a document confirming this. Then gave me a link where I could review both him and the duct cleaning job he had done.
