About an hour away from where my family and I live, there is a large lake that used to be one of the biggest tourist destinations in the area. The lake was a place for famous people to spend the weekend waterskiing, sunbathing, and having fun. Unfortunately, farmers in the area dumped their pesticides in the lake for two decades and now the lake is no longer the serene, fun, and peaceful place it was in the 1960’s. Over the last 20 years, the lakebed has dried up from the severe heat and drought conditions. A walk along the shoreline displays poisoned salt crystals and waves of green, blue, and yellow contaminants. The pollution along the side of the lake is horrible, but the odor is even worse. The air smells like sulfur and rotten eggs and it can be hazardous to breathe. Most people have moved away from the area, but even folks like myself that live almost an hour away, still have problems due to the lake pollution. Last month I decided to invest in an air filtration system for my home. My family and I cannot move. We have been living in this area for the past 15 years and all of the kids go to school nearby. My wife is a teacher and I work at a factory. We are very settled in this area, even if air pollution is a major problem. The air filtration system gets rid of the indoor pollutant that enters our home through the HVAC system and the front door. We do our best to provide a clean atmosphere for our family.
