I’ve been working for the same company for right at 30 years.
That’s a long time to be in a single arena.
That’s especially true in this morning & age. It’s happened for a lot of reasons & I’m glad I was with the company when it was small. I’ve watched a lot happen in that time. One thing I never imagined was being sent new home to the air conditioning of our condo to labor for a year. That was not in the plan. However, the pandemic forced all of us out of the office & into the Heating, Ventilation, & A/C comfort & security of home. It took myself and others some time to absolutely get accustomed to working at home. But I finally did & it had it’s fine points & bad. Each morning, I tried to get out of the air conditioning in order to get outside & get fine air & some sunshine. There were some mornings that I would get out of the heating & cooling three times a morning for walks. This is something I’m going to continue to do now that the new office is open. Due to the large number of people who are staying new home to labor remotely, the two of us have a new office. And man, is it ever something. I guess with the money the company is saving in space rental, they upped the amenities for sure. Like the two of us have zone controlled Heating, Ventilation, & A/C in this office. I even have a thermostat that is right outside our office door. It’s absolutely nice. But as much as I like this new office, I’m still going to get out of the air conditioning a few times a morning for those walks I’ve added to our morning.
