Moving north for college was only supposed to be temporary. The fact that I got a scholarship to a school up north was something that I couldn’t refuse. But even at that age, I was less than excited about dealing with the winter. My dorm room was always so cold. My dad brought up a space furnace however the two of us weren’t allowed to have them. I spent those more than three years bundled up & going from a single Heating, Ventilation, & A/C heating method to the next. Little did I suppose then that I would be spending the rest of our adult life dealing with heating while I was in the winter. And honestly, until recently, that has been a losing battle. I met our spouse at school & the two of us decided to take jobs in the north. All of us ended up settling down & having a family up here as well. It was good in so several ways however the southern girl in myself and others never got accustomed to a gas heating system or any other style of heating method. But fortunately, that all changed when the two of us built our condo once the kids were on their own. Our option of Heating, Ventilation, & A/C heating & cooling is a geothermal heat pump. It’s a absolutely efficient & long lasting source of heating & cooling. Yet that’s not what I like about the heating part. Our heat comes from radiant floor heating. That’s copper tubing under the floors that radiate heating upward. It’s the coziest, best heating I have ever appreciated. And I get to go barefoot whenever I want all Wintertide long. So the southern girl in myself and others finally won a single over Wintertide & all this frigid weather.
