What to do for shed HVAC

My house came with a backyard shed that I decided to make my workout space.

  • It needed a bit of work though.

I had to add insulation, drywall and new windows. Even with that, I worried about temperature control. Thankfully I live down south and it doesn’t get too cold. I found that a simple space heater does the job quite well. I just need to turn it on about an hour before working out and then I have quality heating. I knew I was going to be in trouble when summer hit. Now it is summer and not having any AC is really rough. I have looked into window AC but I don’t love the idea. Where would I store the air conditioners when it was no longer hot? I also don’t like covering my new windows with an ugly, bulky cooling unit. I have looked into a ductless mini split and that is what I want. I would have both heating and cooling in one single unit. The air handler mounts on the wall and out of the way. I could get a smart thermostat and run it from my phone. I could preheat or cool the space and do it from my work computer. I could have as much heating or air conditioning as I want. However, the cost on this and the installation is quite extensive. I don’t know if it is worth doing for an hour a day activity. I really only need an AC option too for the summer season. I am running out of options though.
