It is always hard to get out of bed in the morning but this morning was the worst. The reason for this was because it was so cold in my bedroom. I knew that I had left the gas furnace on all night long. After all, I do all of the time this time of year. So why was it so cold? I was toasty warm and comfortable under my thick covers and it took several minutes and a lot of willpower before I was able to force myself to get out from under them. I knew I had to check on the furnace and I had to go to work too so I hastily got dressed in the warmest clothes I could find then I went downstairs and checked the thermostat. It read 48 degrees! No wonder I was so uncomfortable. My thermostat was supposed to be set to 68 degrees. I tried messing with the thermostat by turning it on and off, adjusting the temperatures settings, and even turning it to A/C then back to heat. Nothing worked. My furnace would not start up. Finally I called up the furnace business that I usually use. I had to pay a bit extra for an emergency visit but I was happy to do it. I also called out to work and then sat around my freezing house waiting for the furnace technicians to show up. I think I would have rather been at work. At least there it is always warm and comfortable. My furnace did end up getting fixed, however, and I ended up warming up some myself, in time.
