I have been having a hard time getting a new HVAC installed.
- I have known from the get-go that my house would be challenging.
The previous owners just had a window A/C unit and space heaters to keep the house comfortable. We have a moderate climate here so that is doable. However, it is not ideal. With pets, I don’t like to leave space heaters running unattended as it is not very safe. Additionally, I like to be cold at night, especially in the summer. So one window A/C was not going to cut it. No. I needed central heating and air. I had an HVAC provider come out to the house and give me an estimate. The technician started inside of the house. He found the perfect place for all of the ductwork, vents, and even for the utility closet. The problem arose when he went outside to find a place for the compressor. My house is on a bit of a hill. And, because of the water in this area, my house is built even higher up. This poses a problem because the compressor needs to be, more or less, level with the house. The HVAC technician said he would need to talk to his manager and get back to me. That was over 2 weeks ago and I still have not heard anything back. I tried calling twice in that time and no one has gotten back to me. So now I am working with another HVAC company and they are suggesting building stilts for the compressor. I guess that would work. I just hope they know what they are doing.
