My husband wanted me to help him decide what kind of heating and air conditioning we were going to use.
I told him that our furnace was perfect for what we had. We already had the ductwork in place, and it was in good condition. I couldn’t understand why we would have any other type of heating system. As far as the air conditioning goes, there were window air conditioning units in the house. I wasn’t sure if we should just buy a few new air conditioning units and let it go at that. It was much cheaper to purchase a couple more air conditioning units than to purchase a central air conditioning unit. I wasn’t going to make a decision that my husband wasn’t going to agree with. He would blame me if it cost more than what he wanted to spend. We bought the house in this condition, knowing we needed a new HVAC system. In all reality, the HVAC system was the only problem with the house. I asked him if he was willing to sit down and write out all the pros and cons for window air conditioners or a central air conditioning unit. The first thing on the list was how much cheaper it would be to purchase the window AC unit. The second thing on the list was that the window air conditioner didn’t supply air conditioning to every part of the house. Before we were done with the list, my husband realized that central air conditioning was going to be much more efficient than window air conditioners.
