The last three months have been a flurry of activity as we planned for our trip across the country. My wife and I had rented a camper that sleeps six, so we knew our two daughters would be comfortable. We were guaranteed that the camper would have air conditioning, heating, and a full shower. What they didn’t guarantee us, was that the air conditioning and heating would be working. I wish we had gained that guarantee from the rental company before we went and picked up the camper. I had no clue how hot it was going to get inside the camper until we parked the first night. My husband went through all the steps that needed to be taken to get the air conditioning unit working, but it never turned on. We once again pulled out the instructions on how to turn the air conditioning unit on, and followed them to a T. Unfortunately, we still didn’t have any air conditioning. Our daughters were angry because it was hot where they were sleeping and it was uncomfortable where they were sleeping. I explained to them that we could make the beds comfortable, but there wasn’t anything we could do about the lack of air conditioning until the next day. Although they were 15 years old, they weren’t in the mood to understand anything. They had their father and I so angry that we were ready to turn around and go back home. Instead, we told them to quit complaining and if they were nice for just fifteen minutes, we would take him to a hotel for the night.
