Our grandma would push us physically to sit with our backs straight

Our Grandma was a stickler on the rules of etiquette for ladies.

If we were walking across the yard, she would tell us to straighten up our heads and quit looking for Nichols.

If we were not sitting on the edge of our seats with our backs straight, grandma would push us physically to the front of the seat and insist we sit up straight. One afternoon we were sitting outside slumped over, and grandma told us to sit up straight. We told her it was too hot, and we were dripping with sweat so much to be concerned about posture. She replied that ladies perspire, and pets sweat. We got miserable. We told grandma that if we had a working a/c in the house, we would not have to worry about dripping with sweat or perspiring. We could just turn up the control component and be comfortable like our friends. She proceeded to tell us how ungrateful we were for everything we had and that we had to start being respectful young guys. We had no clue how our Grandma always held her composure, but she did. She knew how much easier it would be to hold our composure and our posture, if she had the a/c repaired. Our a/c component broke down last year. However, since they didn’t have the money to make the repairs instantly, we were going without AC. We can only hope that they got paid and had the a/c repaired before we moved out and have our own current home with a/c..
