I was at a yard sale last week, and I came across a child’s bed that had an upholstered headboard and footboard.
The upholstery was badly stained, but I could have it reupholstered, and they only wanted five dollars.
It was a deal I couldn’t resist. I was hoping to find a reupholstering service in the local area, but I was out of luck. The nearest upholstery shop was almost twenty miles away. I called them up and made an appointment. When I took the bed into the shop, they inspected the bed. He wanted to know if I planned on painting the bed, or having the entire bed upholstered. If I hadn’t wanted it reupholstered, why would I be in his shop? We looked at several designs for the bed, and I decided on a muted blue with odd designs. I wanted the perfect bed for my daughter. He suggested a new material he had just got in. It was perfect. My daughter’s favorite color was purple, and it had slashes of purple and blue across the white surface. When the upholsterer told me it was also stain resistant and could easily be washed, I knew it was perfect for the bed. It took almost two months for the bed to be completed, but I couldn’t be happier. When my daughter saw her new bed, she cried. It wasn’t only the prettiest bed she had ever seen, but it had a matching trundle bed and now she could invite a friend over and not need to share a bed.
