Hazel had to thank her boyfriend for being her rock.

They met a year before the pandemic. He is a business man and Hazel was employed in the corporate world. Unfortunately, at the start of the pandemic, Hazel lost her job and was planning on moving back home. She couldn’t handle paying the rent without a steady job. Her freelance gigs were only covering her basic needs. However, her boyfriend came in with a better solution. Instead of going back home where there were limited opportunities, he suggested Hazel move in with him. There she’d start working from home and work on getting more remote work since there were many opportunities opening up. One morning, Hazel was busy in her boyfriend’s office working while he was in the other room on a business call. She felt warm which was odd because the cooling system was on. Hazel didn’t want to disturb her boyfriend on his work call so she went to investigate. That’s when she heard a hissing sound coming from the cooling unit. Hazel wasn’t sure the unit should be making such a noise so she called her boyfriend to come to her. He also was skeptical about the noise and opted to phone an area AC worker to come and check it out. The AC worker advised them to turn off the cooling system since the hissing sound might be a refrigerant leak. He also told them to open the windows and he was on his way since this was an emergency situation.
