Kids keep losing their house keys

My family keeps an extremely hectic schedule.

My husband and I both work very long hours and our three boys are all involved in organized sports. It sometimes seems as if we spend more time away than at home. Although my kids are old enough to get off the bus and spend a few hours at home alone, I worry about them. I stress over their safety, security and the possibility of them breaking the rules. They are supposed to come straight home after school or their various practices. They are not allowed to bring friends home when their father or I aren’t there to supervise. They have been instructed to keep the doors locked. We had some problems because my boys kept forgetting or losing their keys to the house. They’d get off the bus and have no way to get inside. Either my husband and I would need to leave work to let them in, or the kids would walk to the neighbor’s house. We tried hiding an extra key in various places, but this key kept getting misplaced. I finally started looking into alternatives and came across wireless security systems. With a basic and fairly inexpensive package, we now have automated door locks and cameras. We’re able to lock and unlock the doors through an app on our phones. I get notified and reassured when the boys arrive home, get inside and lock up. I can also verify their arrival by way of real time video. The security system has set my mind at ease and added a lot of convenience.
